Our DD loves her PPA coaches and team. We're going to let them keep what we paid, in the hopes that it will help the organization survive.

I understand the desire for refunds and the case seems pretty clear-cut that you ought to be able to get a substantial portion back, if not 100 percent. (PPA says it has already incurred significant costs for the Spring season that now looks certain not to happen.)

For us, it's bad enough to miss the soccer and the frienships associated with the game. We'd hate to see the organization go down too. But everyone's financial needs are different right now -- I understand that.

Thanks for this. Did you call or who did you email? I tried to email and got a generic response as to why they can’t offer me more than 25% back on $800 of fees I paid for my daughters. Ridiculous. I hate the assumption that all the PPA families can easily forgo 75% of the fees to “help” PPA.

PPA has also sucked on the communications front. And yeah —I don’t get the thing about their “Relief Fund.” Who ate they to decide who needs my mobey most?!

^^ are, money. It’s too late at night to type...

PPA's response to this thing has been HORRIBLE.
The "financial relief" option where they ask you for your income before and after?! WTAF?!
Who do they think they are asking families to give them this information? It's literally none of their business.
And then acting like it's some noble gesture to help the neediest families... decided by who? The idiots that run my kid's activity?
I have a feeling this is going to generate some major bad press for them, and honestly it's deserved.

I don't mind being asked to contribute towards expenses, but I think if these kid activities want to keep full or partial payment, they should provide an accounting of how the money was spent. I want to see the budget. Generally in this country we don't donate to "for profit" companies.

You can on Guidestar.

Was anybody able to get a full refund back? If so, how did you manage to do that? So far they keep saying this is all they can offer me, and they are helping other families impacted and kept paying their coaches. Well, what about my family? We have lost income but I guess we do not count. Over $400 a kid per season is a lot to not refund back.

Isn't it a huge national organization with tons of overhead?

If they furloughed coaches (ie. collect unemployment and stimulus kicker) OR took PPP free don't -apy-back loan, AND kept Spring fees then that is very wrong. They should do full refund if they received taxpayer stimulus.

That combined with PPP makes me wonder if we are effectively paying coaches salaries through the summer and fall...

I'm not a PPP expert, but be interested if this covers 1099 "employees" as I believe some clubs still operate under this model.

1099 pay their unemployment insurance - employer and employee side.
if int'l person and not citizen they might not have to... but that's a work visa question as well.
