VENTING- SO ANNOYED AT FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES STILl USING NANNIES AND CLEANERS

Anonymous
It is SO frustrating that you think by completely isolating we are solving the issue. . . completely isolating lowers the infection rate (we are at less than 50% occupancy in ICUs in DC), but it doesn't solve anything really other than capacity issues. When they "reopen" the same amount of threat today will still exist on July 15th too (until there is a vaccine) - if people continue to get it, then they will continue to generate herd immunity for us so be grateful . . .it'll help you in the long run. You are seeing the forest for the trees. . . so focused on the rule and not focused on the bigger picture.

My nanny is still coming - her family is self-isolating as well. My DH still has to work (out of the house) and I have to work in the house and have 3 kids under 8 to homeschool. My housekeeper is not coiming b/c i worry about her health, but we are paying her. Do I pass your code of morals?

But they are all near each other.

For some people it does. Sleek for yourself. We can’t help it if you have a tiny yard.

Hospital staff say staying at home buys them time to figure out successful protocols, prepare for a second surge and rest.

You don’t need your walkway edged right now.

Cleaners, yes, I agree with you. But people may need nannies in order to work and keep their jobs. What do you expect them to do if they have really little kids and their boss/job is not understanding and cannot or will not reduce their workload?

There's zero reason, zero, not to have your walkway edged.

How does it help flatten the curve to fire the guy who mows our lawn? He works alone, on his own riding mower. He never comes into our house or talks to us. We mail him a check every month.

Explain how firing your lawn guy flattens the curve. You are nowhere near him!

The lawn people I see work in teams of 2-4 people. None of them are wearing masks. They all ride in the same truck, sitting next to one another, shoulder to shoulder. So while they are not near to each other when they are working, they are in close contact in the truck and I have not seen them wearing masks.

So while the people who are using the lawn services are not in danger, the lawn service workers are. And it is hard for me to see that as being essential during this time period.

We don't have lawn folks, DH does the work on his own. I have noticed that a bunch of my neighbors have increased their service, probably taking care of long term plans while they have the time. I am not judging but it does not seem to be something that is essential.

For people who can't cut the lawn due to disabilities. I see teens posting offers to cut lawns and do yard work for pretty inexpensive prices. They would be working solo and able to handle the basics.

We did cancel our house cleaners. As much as I dislike cleaning the bathroom, it is not worth having 2-3 people who are coming and going from other peoples houses come to my house. But that was a decision we made as a family.

So are all the other workers authorized by the state to continue working during the lockdown.

This includes liquor stores, gun shops, home repair businesses, sanitation workers, bankers and auto repair shops among others. ALL of these jobs are allowed.

If people aren't breaking the law, and continuing to work enables them to maintain employment and consequently their health insurance, why do you care?

Our lawn crew arrive in separate trucks (two of them) and wear masks.
