-1. I feel the exact opposite!

Not to sidwell lower school, which is where ncrc kids would apply.

Sidwell lower school (pK through 4th) in Bethesda is about a 20 min drive from NCRC, and even further from LFS. Seems like there are more NCRC kids than LFS kids at Sidwell, but there are plenty of both. Sidwell 5th-12th grades are walking distance from NCRC. You will not go wrong with either school. These ate good problems to have right now!

How are the ties between NCRC and the Admissions Office of GDS?

The Gan (Adas) in Cleveland Park sends a lot of kids to GDS.

Lfs is much smaller than ncrc. Outplacement is great at both. Pick the closer one

I would go with LFS if it’s closer to your home. You can’t go wrong with the schools and adding commuting time is no fun for you or your child.

NCRC does press parents to add an extra year when they think it is appropriate. At LFS that is much less likely to occur.

I agree with pp. James (head of school) supports decisions that are best for families. Outplacement process is smooth. LFS sends also many to GDS as well as Beauvoir, Sidwell, etc. it’s an easygoing place. Lots of art, music, play, etc. Kids are very happy. My DC has been so happy there. Families are pretty diverse, especially in the past couple of years.

We are an NCRC/GDS family. Lots of NCRC kids at GDS. The same relationship NCRC has with the other area privates.

Ties are very strong. Just like between GDS and the Ivies.

We found the LFS parent community very insular and cliquish, with a few friendly exceptions of course. But perhaps things have improved in the last couple of years.

+1 (and it hasn't improved the last few years)

Wonderfully, diverse, down to earth community, best trained preschool teachers in town. It’s a happy place. And the community stays with you. But you can’t go wrong at either school.
This is great to hear.

Anonymous wrote:NCRC is wonderful. But the school sits in the middle of a quiet non-thru street, almost a lane, in Cleveland Park. The relationship between the school community and the neighbors has often been strained. Just be prepared for stares and dirty looks sometimes at pickup and drop off from neighbors who are none too happy about your car intruding on their little Eden.

Neighbors who are out walking your dogs, just be prepared for stares and dirty looks sometimes at pickup and drop off from NCRC mamas in their big ass SUVs with MD and VA plates, who are none too happy that you are invading what should be a complete safe space for their precious little child named Eden.

Which is practically always, because they don't want to lose the tuition $$.

We had this choice as well. We chose LFS. Both are great, and we know families who went to ncrc and had a lovely time. LFS is truly special. It is just the most loving, nurturing, cozy, delightful, joyful place. It’s like family.
