NCRC or Little Folks?

I agree - both schools are fantastic. We chose Little Folks School because it is closer to us. Head of school, James, is just wonderful. Yes I agree, The play ground in NCRC is so lovely. Amazing warm community. But Volta park is pretty nice and very close to LFS. Also LFS has an indoor play space when it rains/snows. Outplacement is also phenomenal. You can’t go wrong with either choice. Good luck!

It’s an exaggeration to say that NCRC is a preschool to Ivy pipeline, but not that much of an exaggeration.

Based on the outplacement to bvr, sidwell, and gds at little folks and ncrc, I don't think this is right. They feed straight in.

Not to mention the heads at both of these schools came from BVR. One directly and one with another HOS stint in between.

DC was admitted to both several years ago. We loved both schools. In the end, we chose LFS b/c it was closer, full day and we loved the HOS and teachers. It seems the new head has continued the tradition. Kids had a very, very easy transition to next school.

NCRC is located within walking distance of Sidwell, Beaver and Maret and is reasonably close to GDS (especially when the expanded campus opens). Proximity breeds familiarity.

You can’t go wrong. Full day vs half day, proximity to your home, and maybe size are your considerations.

We are so happy with the head of school at LFS and the warm vibe of the school. But as others have noted, NCRC is a fine school as well.

Lfs is such a special place. It’s like family.

We found the LFS parent community very insular and cliquish, with a few friendly exceptions of course. But perhaps things have improved in the last couple of years.

NCRC is wonderful. But the school sits in the middle of a quiet non-thru street, almost a lane, in Cleveland Park. The relationship between the school community and the neighbors has often been strained. Just be prepared for stares and dirty looks sometimes at pickup and drop off from neighbors who are none too happy about your car intruding on their little Eden.

We have had 2 kids at NCRC and loved every seconds. Our kids then went to BVR and all of their friends (with the exception of a couple of difficult kids) got in at Sidwell, BVR, Maret and Sheridan. The families are amazing, fun, welcoming, etc. Some are super rich and others are more average (by DC standards). We have loved it all and so did our kids. I thought NCrC did PK better than any of the top privates (I visited a few and had one kid at BVR PK).
I know nothing of Little Folks except that a few families at BVR went to Little Filks first (because it started earlier at the time) and as soon as they could they moved to NCRC.
The other way around might happen as well... I have no idea.

Not to sidwell lower school, which is where ncrc kids would apply.

NP and BVR family here. The fact that the both Heads formerly were Beauvoir staff does not give students from those schools a special pipeline to Beauvoir.

We have loved LFS. Such a friendly and warm environment. We liked NCRC too, but it didn't seem as laid back and wasn't as convenient for us. I don't think you can go wrong.

NCRC no comparison.
