"It would not apply to education services, childcare, health care or services provided by nonprofit or civic organizations." So, home daycares would still be exempt. |
? Then who would pay for our military and politicians' salaries? |

thats assuming that’s how childcare is defined . Maybe they mean babysitters ? |
I would love to be wrong about this. |
i think how they define childcare is key . They’ll lose out on a lot of money if they don’t tax daycare but maybe they mean babysitting which it isn’t enforceable anyways |
| So all those people getting doggy day care, dog walkers etc would be taxed |
| Will md get rid of contingency legal fees? That would deprive the state of money and boy paying sales tax on realtor fees will be grand |
|
I don't follow MD politics, but can Hogan veto this, and would the state assembly be able to over ride the veto?
This is ridiculous. We are a consumer economy, not just a service based economy. Even the EU doesn't tax services in their member states. |
In Maryland all daycare is regulated which means that one person can’t watch your child in their home for more than 20 hours a month or it is illegal. I would say anything over 20 hours of babysitting is considered daycare/childcare. In fact, in Maryland nanny shares are illegal since The nanny will be watching somebody else’s child not in that child’s own home. all of those services will be taxable, according to how I’m reading it. I don’t know if they left the language fuzzy so that later they can go back and tax or if it’s just poorly written. |

I was just saying today that we should have a high VAT, BUT no income tax. I would be ok with that, but not with what the Dems in MD are suggesting.
|
| Wouldn’t this apply to ride sharing and contractors ? |
they can override vetoes |
|
More Maryland taxes.
Why are we not surprised? The democrat General Assembly is living up to it's long-held reputation: TAX, TAX, TAX. SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. |
|
I just won’t hire MD service providers anymore.
