So daycare isn’t considered childcare ?
It is but the way I’m reading it is the tax would only be exempt if it’s daycare through a nonprofit or civic organization.
it says “or” after it so childcare for profit or non profit are not taxed
I would love to be wrong about this.
i think how they define childcare is key . They’ll lose out on a lot of money if they don’t tax daycare but maybe they mean babysitting which it isn’t enforceable anyways
In Maryland all daycare is regulated which means that one person can’t watch your child in their home for more than 20 hours a month or it is illegal. I would say anything over 20 hours of babysitting is considered daycare/childcare. In fact, in Maryland nanny shares are illegal since The nanny will be watching somebody else’s child not in that child’s own home. all of those services will be taxable, according to how I’m reading it. I don’t know if they left the language fuzzy so that later they can go back and tax or if it’s just poorly written.
