The people re-saving your roof aren’t professionals? Your plumber isn’t a professional ?

Gov. Hogan (R) is against it.

Dems love to tax, what else is new?

Mechanics are professionals. Imagine how much more you’ll pay for car repairs now on the labor

Add 6% to your daycare bill per week x 52 how much more will that be for you? Plus, your daycare will also have to pay for services like lawn care and maintenance. That will also go into factoring a price increase. They should have everybody’s attention. For our family that’s an extra 1,000 a year just in daycare service tax. My friend had 2 in daycare. That’s a lot of $!

If being a professional is a social construct and social constructs are fluid can you just not identify as a professional to avoid this ?

Google, my friend.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/local/md-politics/maryland-house-democrats-want-residents-to-pay-sales-tax-on-services/2020/02/19/784090fe-536e-11ea-9e47-59804be1dcfb_story.html%3foutputType=amp

It would not apply to education services, childcare, health care or services provided by nonprofit or civic organizations.
“Maryland’s sales tax is antiquated,” said House Majority Leader Eric G. Luedtke (D-Montgomery), who sponsored the bill. “We tax goods and not services, and the economy is on services.”

Daycares or education services. that is provided by a nonprofit organization would be exempt. However most daycare centers and at home day cares would be affected by this.

So daycare isn’t considered childcare ?

It is but the way I’m reading it is the tax would only be exempt if it’s daycare through a nonprofit or civic organization.

it says “or” after it so childcare for profit or non profit are not taxed

So the MD legislature wants to raise taxes AGAIN to fund education . I thought that the lottery and casinos were supposed to be the money pipeline for education.
