My guess is that OP knows the woman and is hoping to stir the pot on DCUM. I doubt she went in a trip to “Central America” and happened to have a bartender introduce her to a woman from Bethesda. ![]() |
Eh I have seen this kind of situation and it wasn't abandonment. They are close to their kids now as adults.
Parenting teens can be a shit show, divorce can be a shit show. The chances of someone not looking like the bad guy are so small when you are talking about teens and divorce. It isn't easy to navigate parenting teens and agreeing on everything with your spouse even in a good marriage. Being divorced - unless there is abuse, teens will typically pick the more affluent household, closer to their friends, etc. It isn't a reflection on her at all. Maybe their relationship is better because the kids can go and spend a month each summer visiting her? Or do a gap year living with her and working? Don't judge, OP. |
OP here. I'm not trying to "out" anyone. Maybe I should've said "a Maryland suburb" and been more generic, like I'm being about this location. I apologize for that.
But, just so we are clear, she's not poor and she didn't have to move here. She wanted to. She told me her only problem is that "it's too much fun" here. And gave up custody after the kids "insisted." She didn't lose custody. She said she thinks the kids may visit for spring break but isn't sure. Sure, men do this all the time, but whether you're in a dress or pants it's still abandonment. And yes I'm judging and also asking for opinions. And to those you who tell me not to judge, how often have you yourselves judged on DCUM? Isn't that what half the posts on this forum are? Look in the mirror. |
I don’t get it. Why is it f-ed up? |
My friend got divorced 2 years ago her kids are teenagers. All have chosen to live with their father because he lets them drink alcohol and has no rules. She hasn’t seen her children in over a year. I wouldn’t blame her 1 bit for leaving. Her kids abandoned her. |
Yes. As the OP described her, I don't see a selfish woman who abandoned her children. I see a heartbroken mother trying to get over her pain by starting an entirely new life. |
OP here. I have to say she seems happy as a clam and not particularly heartbroken . . . |
OP here again. Considering that I've seen her at the same bar every night having the time of her life I find it hard to believe she was cracking the whip at home and drove the kids into the arms of a lawless father . . . |
I think you are a top contender for the DCUM most judgmental poster of the week award. |
She sounds like she is loving her best life after the kids decided they preferred Dad. Good for Dad for taking care of the kids and good for her! What's the problem here? |
LOL. Let's switch the narrative. Let's say the OP was talking about a man. DCUM sure as hell would pile on the hate then! |
Switch the genders and what would you think? |
Sounds like a dream to me.
-Happily married, but have difficult older teen boys. |
OP is even more awful than first presented. What a tiny person. |
Op is just fine. Get a life. |
