How so? They deserved to be attacked on vacation? Or arrested when they defend themselves? |
That’s one version of the story. |
I think the dad tried to buy drugs at some point (happens often at these high end resorts), and maybe Kenny came by to do the deal and the daughter walked in, so the dad tried to make it look like a robbery and purposely let the guy die so he wouldn’t talk.
That’s my humble opinion. |
What if that employee has recently been accused of rape? Or if he has a lethal amount of cocaine in his system? Or the equivalent of nine alcoholic drinks? |
I’ve been there a few times and they do lock from the inside. If you’re in the room, you can lock people out. It was like that in 2004 as well. |
Yes that’s what I meant. But someone could come in your room while you were out. And/or wait for you. It was kind of creepy. |
I am not sure I believe all of it but I do believe he panicked fairly quickly. Maybe Kenny had a knife, maybe he was slurring his words, and Scott’s mind raced to worse case scenario and he panicked and then eventually went into shock. He doesn’t look like the kind of guy who is ever going to want to admit being scared, panicking and making poor choices. I don’t think he suffocated but yes I can believe the hit to the head and been a bit drugged up, and the not receiving the right kind of emergency care all contributed to the death. If he hit his head, he could have had a small brain bleed that went undetected for example. |
His partner “now flatly denies that he raped her...”. He wasn’t killed by his partner or the person who gave him cocaine. He was killed by a rich white guy who got away with murder. |
I can’t believe this family held a PHOTO SHOOT to bolster their claims of innocence. Frankly, looking at these crazy blond effers, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a Get Out on this dude. They don’t look normal at all. |
I went to college with the Hapgoods. I didn’t know them that well, but we crossed paths fairly often in classes and because of overlapping social circles. I feel very sorry for them and this nightmare that came from just trying to take a family vacation and I can’t imagine any scenario where this could have been anything other than Scott defending himself. i could imagine him panicking or overreacting in a scary situation, but I can’t imagine any scenario with any premeditation or malice. A lot can change in the loooong time since i graduated college, but I can’t imagine that he could have changed his entire personality or nature. He was the most good natured guy in college and I’ve never seen him with anything but a smile on his face. He was always the one keeping things under control and diffusing arguments and never the one getting riled up or angry. |
Sounded like exactly the opposite to me. The article was almost satirical in its over-the-too description Scott and his family, stressing repeatedly their blond hair (wtf?) and their fortunate lifestyle. Sounded very sarcastic. I hate the author’s snarky tone. |
It amazes me that anyone would defend a guy who was coked up, nine drinks in his system, had previously raped his baby mama and had a restraining order against him, and came at Hapgood with a knife. Seriously???? Do you people even hear yourselves?
Oh, I forgot - Hapgood is white and blond, so obviously this is a case of “white privilege.” JFC. |

![]() the father/daughter pose with him resting his head on her torso with hand on her hip. Being cradled on her chest just seems so odd. At first glance I assumed it was the wife standing . As a kid my family was not physically affectionate so the level intimacy is uncomfortable to me. |
+2. And to the other PP, yes both of my daughters would easily stand with their dad the way that girl is in the photo. Not strange at all the me. I’d stand with my own father that way too. |
