And three weeks prior to the incident, he was charged with raping his baby mama and she was granted a restraining order against him. After he died she bizarely retracted and claimed it was a "misunderstanding."

During the three weeks he was charged with rape, the hotel continued to actively employ him.

Wonder why she retracted. Even the local (often corrupt) police said the guy was a menace.

Because she wanted to be able to get money in a wrongful death suit.

I believe his story, but he should not have kept sitting on him in that manner so he couldn’t breathe for so long. It’s crazy the security didn’t get security there faster. Did the hotel employee not have a cell phone or walk-in talkie? They were only 100 yards from the pool. To be fair I could see hapgood being in shock and being scared to get up or scared that if he lets loose at all the two might gang up on him or the robber might fight back more.

Not defending the hotel, but would they have known about the rape charge and restraining order? Are employers informed by police of these things?

I mean to his credit the guys who showed up and told him to let up / wearing the same uniform as the guy who allegedly attacked him. Was he supposed to believe them and let the guy go? He said he would not until there was ample evidence to hold the attacker down. I can see that making sense.

The corner basically said the guy only died because of the amount of cocaine in his system anyway.
