| I used them for many years but later realized they were causing depression, headaches, and low libido. However they did help with acne. |
My best friend told me the same thing. |
| I mean if the choice is between pregnancy and some bc side effects, I'll take the bc any day. |

I think the whole libido thing is a lie. Didn't affect me at all. |
+1! Birth control pills made me moody, fat, and covered in cystic acne. Hard pass. |
What about the environmental consequences in our ecosystem from the massive use of estrogen drugs? |

I'm 54 and didn't have my first kid until I was 37 - got pregnant within the first month of going off them. I LOVED my BCP! I loved that I knew exactly when I was going to have a period, I loved how much lighter they were (if I had one at all) and, if it was an inconvenient week, I just moved directly to the next pack and skipped the period! LOVED them!
For most of my life, I lived in areas with septic tanks so no impact no impact on the waterways. Got my tubes tied with my 3rd kid (in three years when I had to have a C-section. |
The real MVP I've been free of debilitating periods for a decade |
| 100 Percent think Birth Control Pills are awesome. |
Plenty of studies prove this, but of course MSM will suppress them. |
Don’t the hormonal IUDs have the same hormones as the Pill? Why wouldn’t they have the same side effects? I hate being on the pill, feel like it’s killed my libido, made me gain weight, and elevated my blood pressure — but I had seriously heavy periods before and am afraid to go back to that. Am actively in search of an alternate solution. |
The hormonal IUDs have a LOT lower level of hormones than the pill and the hormones are largely localized to the uterus; little of the hormones ends up in the bloodstream, different than the pill/patch/implant. If you are extremely sensitive to any hormones at all, you could have similar side effects, but at least for me I was ok with this very low level of hormones even though I absolutely couldn't tolerate the pill. Bonus is that you either stop your period or it becomes very light. I wasn't lucky enough to go completely without periods, but I would only have one every 2-3 months and when I did, it was light pantyliner level light for 2-3 days. Obviously talk to your doctor, but if I were you I would seriously consider the IUD (I had the Mirena). I would think it would almost have to be better than the pill given your side effects. Good luck! This article gives a good overview: https://www.bedsider.org/features/317-all-about-hormones |
Well this was when we were discussing which chemo to use for my breast cancer. Aggressive BC with no family history. Have been to support groups with other young BC patients and BCP are the common thread. |
That is because most women use birth control pills! Correlation is not causation |
| IUDs for the win! |
