Pipeline to ECNL

I'm assuming this rumor concerns girls only, but if true would presumably cause some issues between Pipeline and SAC for the boys side of Armour too.

There is more to playing high school sports than whether it is "good". Especially for girls. Social benefits, leadership opportunities, mentoring, being a part of a team in your school. It's especially helpful for 9th grade girls its a great way to build friendships in the school. Yes, there are downsides - but for most kids, the benefits outweigh the downsides.

You don't build friendships in club? You will never go on 2 to 4 day trips with a high school team sharing hotel rooms, flights, bus trips.

You meet kids from different schools in club.

Club soccer has captains as well.

Most of the BA teams 04 down are filled with SAC players...probably 70/30 overall SAC/Pipeline. Probably 80/20 on the boys side...

Yes, actually it is harder to build friendships in club because club tends to be a year to year proposition with plenty of movement, whereas most people stay at the same high school for four years.

As a 9th Grader playing any fall sport, your sports practices get you accustomed to the school and allow you to start classes already knowing some of your classmates. In addition, high school soccer provides media exposure. There's no Metro Club Player of the Week in an newspaper, as exists for high school sports. Some people actually want to play sports as part of their high school experience, for their classmates and the honor of their school community.

Is may not be the highest quality soccer, but there are benefits.

At the end of the day if Pipeline goes ECNL, they will have U13-U18/19 teams. Any kid in the area (including Pipeline girls who left to play with BA) would have an opportunity to tryout to play on those ECNL teams. Vice Versa, any former Pipeline player (and they are former once they go to BA) who wanted to stay in the DA could.

It is a social club and that is why it is crap. Enjoy it but it sucks.

Definitely a conflict. pipeline pushes a player to DA, that's one less player registration with pipeline. hurts pipelines pockets and quality of their teams. pipeline is all about $$$$ and getting Ws
