I don't think Prep is close to STA in academic rigor. And EHS is not in that discussion. You have STA on one level, Prep and Landon on the next, EHS and SSSA, then Bullis. For lax, just switch STA and Bullis.

The correct order for the IAC is:

Academic Ranking:
#1 STA
#2 Prep, Landon
#4 EHS
#5 SSSAS
#6 Bullis

Lax Ranking:
#1 Bullis, Landon, Prep (depending on year)
#4 EHS, SSSAS
#6 STA

Although STA is traditionally not a lax powerhouse, the fact is that not all lax stars could get accepted into STA even if they wanted to-- and that seems to irk some non-STA parents to the point that they need to continue putting down the STA program. The "we've got grit for losing so much" and "you will work for us someday" posters are just trolls trying to keep this conversation going. I don't think anyone remotely thinks that way when they decide to send their lax player to STA.

STA has its own lax thread b/c lesser academic schools like to trounce on STA and the balding, fattening STA board who thought they were hot stuff cause they played lax back in the Jesse Hubbard days of STA lax glory love to heap on criticism of the current admin for not “recruiting” and keeping up with the landons. Fading glory days old farts. Move on.

This is a perfect example of how current STA community members treat other members of the community. There is an underlying negative competitiveness among all members (my son is better than yours) and two very different sub-groups, those that appreciate competitive athletics (especially the popular helmet sports and basketball) and creating a well-rounded boy who does well in sports and academics vs those who only care about the strength and reputation of academics.

There was a long time when STA had bada** lacrosse

It's also been a long time since they were any good.

They should have never let it go. Wasn't like it was a team full of non-achievers. Same thing with the football team.

Hubbard's teams couldn't even win a title.

STA has only ever won one IAC Championship in lacrosse and that was a co-championship in 2007.

Who is Jesse Hubbard?

They are having tryouts for varsity? Do they ever cut kids?

Yes tryouts for varsity. Whether they will cut kids from making JV in another story.

If you are a junior who does not make varsity, are you allowed to play Jv?
