| I am sorry OP. Don't know why you get so many sanctimonious comments this morning. I am a single mom too and I get it. They really should have 3 administrative leave days per year that you could use when schools close. |
| Don't you have aftercare for your kids? The aftercare providers are usually open on snow days unless administrative offices are closed. |
|
1. School is not child care
2. You need to have a backup plan for these situations 3. The federal government literally does not care that some people have children and failed to plan ahead |
No....use your AL |
Is this a fed worker talking about no flexibility? You win the internet today. |
OPM director went to Catholic university where you learn to care about kids in the womb but don't care after they leave the womb. GMAFB! This is about making the right decision for all... they should offer telework so police don't have to be on the road cleaning up accidents, putting their life in danger because some poor slub is trying to get to work because their boss is a dumb a$$. |
Not every federal job is flexible. |
What backup care do you have that you can call at 7am to be at your house in an hour I'm freezing rain? So you can be at be office by 9? |
I work in private industry not the government and I cannot believe the posters you think the OPM should make decisions based on school delays. Our local elementary school has an after care program where my kids go and it is open on closed school days as long as the school administrative offices are open. Here at MCPS the administrative offices are open which means that kidsco will be open for business at my school. Having children means you have to be flexible. Businesses cannot accommodate every child care need. |

You have a voice, use it!
Tweet at President Social Media and tell him this is ridiculous. He cares about Twitter, and he’s looking for good press. Just do it. |
Use your leave. It’s not that difficult. |
Ok.... |
My back up plan is my child’s aftercare program which is also open when schools are closed |
and do you want people on the street in freezing rain? NO. |
Are you that ignorant? Yes. Yes, you are. |
