How can I report my husband?

Anonymous
You can totally report him. They might not be able to give you details about his treatment but they can listen to what you have to say. Plus, HIPPA is waived in emergency situations. Taking all that medication could be considered a life threatening situation. And, besides, what is your husband going to do? Sue the doctor?

Because if he’s only supposed to take 1 extended release pill at a time and he also gets 60 instant release pills per month, then the doctor is also part of the problem, which is problematic because you go to the same doctor.

He has a prescription for 30 a 20mg instant release and 30-20mg extended release. Total of 60 pills per month. He went through 56 in 10 days.

It doesn't seem medically appropriate for him to have a prescription for both of these. Typically the ER is enough. The instant release leads to more abuse problems.

What’s the rationale for having both?

It’s very common to prescribe the ER for the morning then an instant release for the afternoon. I don’t agree with this but it’s very commonly done.

My kids can't function at school without the short acting dose. Their metabolism has been so high the last few years (they're teenagers), the ER wears off and they need the booster about 2PM. The 'booster' allows them to access the curricula of their afternoon classes, study after school and get thru their extra-curriculars.

You may not agree with it but we each have to make the best decisions for our families.

Lock up your medication and let the chips fall where they may.

My husband has been abusing his adderral prescription for a while, and even though we talked and he said he would get better, he really didn’t. I started monitoring how much he takes it once I noticed he was going 2,3, and sometime 4 days in a row without any sleep. Can I report him to his doctor? Would the front desk even let me talk to him? As of today, I noticed he went through 30 pills of instant release and 26 pills of extended in 10 days. He has prescription for both, 60 pills a month. I’m so hopeless that I can’t even think straight.

So the man likes to party. Chill, my sistuh!

I got my Doc to up the prescription to three, 20mg ER Adderral a day. I took it for about 4 years and then just realized that all it dis was make me an amphetamine addict. I decided that I'd rather struggle with who I am, an adult with ADHD, than be an addict so I quit. It's a rough couple of weeks to quit, much like quitting coffee, but not that big of a deal.

60 pills a month of 20mg is not that big of a deal. He could probably get 90 just by asking, or even 120 instead of trying to buy them from someone else. But that said, it's a no-win situation. You can't cure ADHD with Adderal. It's not like an antibiotic that you take for 10 days and then you are cured. The pills are good for the day you take them. Then the next day... If he takes them for years, there are going to be health consequences. One of them being, high blood pressure. I feel for you. The man needs help.
