How did your dh get a prescription for 60 extended release pills per month? Is his dose 2 pills? Because if he’s only supposed to take 1 extended release pill at a time and he also gets 60 instant release pills per month, then the doctor is also part of the problem, which is problematic because you go to the same doctor.
He has a prescription for 30 a 20mg instant release and 30-20mg extended release. Total of 60 pills per month. He went through 56 in 10 days.
It doesn't seem medically appropriate for him to have a prescription for both of these. Typically the ER is enough. The instant release leads to more abuse problems. What’s the rationale for having both?
It’s very common to prescribe the ER for the morning then an instant release for the afternoon. I don’t agree with this but it’s very commonly done.
My kids can't function at school without the short acting dose. Their metabolism has been so high the last few years (they're teenagers), the ER wears off and they need the booster about 2PM. The 'booster' allows them to access the curricula of their afternoon classes, study after school and get thru their extra-curriculars. You may not agree with it but we each have to make the best decisions for our families.
