What is your clinic. I contacted Shady Grove and, like the PP said, they basically have nothing. Probably because they don't even offer it as an option to people - it's either donate them to science, destroy them, or donate them to a specific person.

Has something changed? Shady Grove had a donated embryo program last year. They offered it as an option when we were moving to DE. Their pool was small though and the embryos were non-PGS tested and from older couples so we decided to stick with DE.

I don't know if anything has changed, but I just spoke with them and they have about 5 total embryos.

This discussion about Shady Grove’s donor embryo program is fascinating me. DH and I has successful IVF thru SGF and now have 2 embryos that we do not intend to use. We are Caucasian. We would like to donate the embryos thru SGF. SGF won’t take them by of my husbands age at the time the enmbryos were created (53) despite our success! Anyone know of other options for us for donating our embryos? We would prefer anonymous donation

You could donate them to the place Dr Gordon from Dominion is working, NEDC in Knoxville TN. They have some restrictions because it's a Christian faith based clinic.

Nice that this is the last paragraph on their homepage:

While the NEDC is open to couples of all race, religion, creed, and background, our own Christian faith is the overriding principle upon which we operate. As an organization guided by our religious faith and protected by the Constitution of the United States, the NEDC firmly believes in the sanctity of life beginning at conception and recognizes marriage as a sacred union between man and woman as defined by scriptures of the Holy Bible.

How do they get away with that, its bigotry???

If they are that religious shouldn't any form of ART be taboo? Hypocrites.

No, because God himself told them it was ok.

Some people don't want to donate their embryos to same sex couples. Some do. Those folks can decide where they want to go to donate. It is a choice. Just because you don't agree with it, it doesn't make it wrong.

Interesting thread. We have 1 embryo left at Shady Grove as well. We are open to embryo adoption, but unclear on how to do. When we looked last year, it seemed like we would still have to pay the freezing cost until it’s adopted.

Do are they saying they are all sinning by providing fertility services? If they claim to believe life begins at conception, how do they rationalize creating embryos in a lab choosing to let some embryos die and others live? Are they letting you know in advance they have morals?

Was it recently created? I am looking at a site that seems to have a few embryos but they were all created in 2009 or before. I am worried that the freezing technology then was much worse (it was) and so these embryos might not make it to thaw.

Would you be interested in a closed adoption/donation?

When were the embryos created?

I'm agonizing over this too. We have three extra, PGS-tested, normal embryos at SGF that we will never use. I was 41 and DH 48 at the time they were created. I don't think I can take the idea of my bio children in the world somewhere, so I think we will go for compassionate disposal option at some point. But it's a painful choice, I won't lie.

I understand. But that's so sad because there are people like me who would love them.
