You're describing me and my 3.5 year old too. Her current favorite Disney princesses are Merida and Mulan. She's all Disney, but prefers the baddest ones. As a result, she loves shooting with pretend bow and arrows and sword fighting (while in a princess dress, of course). She's not allowed to shoot AT anything living, but aside from that, Disney, pretend bad guy fighting, and whatever else comes next shall pass. Maybe she'll end up goth in high school and be horrified at all of the photos from her younger days. That was all you, kid!

You're a good mom for letting your daughter be herself. yes, some girls like pink and play with dolls. Some boys -- like mine -- like trucks and sticks etc. No, I didn't not teach them to play that way.

I wish I had been raised by parents who embraced girls for who they were. I wanted to scream with excitement when I saw glitter or sprinkles etc. I loved holding a weighted baby doll that felt like a newborn. Too bad I thought being "girly" was bad. How stupid. You're doing great, OP.

Don’t you find all that precious energy kind of tedious? I’m a very feminine woman, but I find little girls who are into glitter and pink,etc, excessively banal and annoying. real ballerinas only wear tutus in performances, and sparkles make you look like like a stripper. I would never buy my daughter half the crap they try and sell to girls. most “girly” is just crass materialism Girly is annoying. Feminine is not.
