What is not working? Are the clothes too tight? Too short? How tall is your DD and what is her weight? That information, while personal, will help us steer you correctly.

I am really confused if all of you commenting are this stupid... or what? An adult XS could EASILY wear a Gap kids or Old navy kids large. A kids 2x being too small is seriously like an adult medium.

Wrong. I wear Gap/Old Navy XS (I'm 40.) I could definitely not fit into my daughter's Gap/Old Navy L.

Stop trying to label this kid and just help her mom buy some clothes.

It is not normal for an 8/9 year old kid to be the size of a full grown adult woman. Saying its normal doesn't make it so. And OP acting like nothing is wrong with the size of her 8 yo is going the kid no favors, if OP's daughter even exists which I doubt.

It enrages me when parents allow their children to become obese and completely bury their head in the sand and do nothing about it.

Please stop. I was the size of a "grown woman" at 9. You do know "grown women" come in different sizes, right? I'm now 6 feet tall as a "grown woman" and was 5'10' by the time I was 12. Now I understand why all these older women were so mean to me when I was younger, so many people hate taller bigger women, sigh. Please lay off OP, she just wants to know where to buy clothes!

I would buy her women's and juniors sizes at Old Navy, Target, Kohl's, etc... Just have to be selective about styles so she won't read as much older, but they all have standard t-shirts, pants, shorts.

Just because one girl is like this I want make it normal or healthy.

PS: I could wear my mom's wedding dress when I was 10. By the time I was 10 I was the same size as my mom. This is what happens when small women marry really tall muscular men. Sometimes you get a really tall muscular daughter and a small petite son.

PP here. Excuse me???? So what should the 5 foot 5 girl who is not fat do because she's "not normal?". She'll probably grow to well over 6 feet. She is not fat. Has not developed breasts. She's an excellent athlete. Her parents are very tall as well. You are embarrassing and sick. I hope you do not spend time around children.

Lady, you need to spend some more time reading up on science, genetics, or maybe just a book on human kindness. You have some deficits.

It certainly is for tall girls or for girls who grow and develop early. You need help.

Gap's website says size XXL fits kids 94-115 lbs. For an 8 year old, that's off the charts as is the classmate of a PP's daughter.

If the height is "off the charts" as well, I'm not sure what you want these tall girls to do -- binge/purge until the numbers are acceptable to you?

PP wrote about a 5'5" 3rd grader. You were complaining about 94-115 lb range. If this child were 100 lbs at that height, her BMI would be underweight at 16.6.

This is incorrect. Children's BMI is different than adults.

The number is correct -- that is the BMI for her age, height, and weight per the CDC Child and Teen Calculator. You are correct that it is not underweight, but "healthy weight" for her age.
Soooo … is she supposed to purge or just restrict, or what?

I suppose you could cut off her feet to make her shorter. Lose a few pounds, too.

Well, remember, the XXLs don't fit the 8 year old. So you have to put in a weight of over 115.
