Some kids are big. Also, some kids are small.

Old Navy should work. An adult XS might be slimmer in the cut than a kids XXL.

What is not working? Are the clothes too tight? Too short? How tall is your DD and what is her weight? That information, while personal, will help us steer you correctly.

How can she not be overweight? My third grader is almost nine, and he’s still solidly in a medium. Sometimes small.

5’2” for an 8-yr old is not just big. It’s bigger than 99th percentile for height. It’s hard to believe this kid is actually that tall (versus wearing such a large size due to being overweight).

It might be time to try Junior sizes.

OP, I mean this gently, but please see a doctor about your 8 year old's health. Don't focus on your daughter's size but getting her a healthy diet and exercise regime is critical. My 11 year old DD is 5'2" and wears Gap XL. There's no way that an 8 year old who can't fit into XXL is healthy. This is much more than "big boned." Giving your DD the gift of a healthy lifestyle without focus on size is a wonderful gift to give your DD. She should eat healthy food and stay active.

Why are you people so nasty? Maybe her kid is super tall, and who cares, she asked about the clothes, not about weight advice!

A girl who has been in the same class as my daughter for k-2 has always been a good 6 inches taller than the next tallest kid in the class. She's not skinny, but also not fat. She would easily blend in with kids a few years older.

Move to juniors/adult womens clothes OP. Kohl's, Old Navy would have more appropriate clothes than Target for a younger girl.

My mom had to do that for me by the time I was 10, I was always incredibly tall for my age and skinny (you could see my ribs) but big. It's a body type. Was the tallest / largest person in my grade until the guys started catching up my junior year.

Nope. If she was just super tall, an XXL would fall off her!

Why do overweight people take everything so personally? Her child has obvious health issues. Ignoring them and being all kumbaya about it isn’t going to do her any favors. I was chunky as a kid and I wish my mom had addressed it. I’m thin now but I feel very regretful about the years I was overweight and didn’t know how to really fix it as a kid.

SHE BROUGHT IT UP!

And anyway she's likely a troll.

I am really confused if all of you commenting are this stupid... or what? An adult XS could EASILY wear a Gap kids or Old navy kids large. A kids 2x being too small is seriously like an adult medium.

I don't think we should attack anyone for being overweight, but as a data point:

I have an 8 year old who is literally in the 99.98% for height. She wears a M or L at the Gap. She is fairly slim, though...

Good lord people. A girl in my daughter's 3rd grade class last year is about 5ft. 5, with a size 9.5 foot. She is not overweight in the least but has been handing down her 12-14 size clothing to DD.

Stop trying to label this kid and just help her mom buy some clothes.
