Correct:. Langley = 21% Asian; Mclean High = 25%, Thomas Jefferson - 75%

like Potomac has true diversity at least on ethnicity. Not sure in economics but hopefully there is diversity there. We would not know because we don’t ask anyone how much money they have.

This notion of "true" diversity will not serve you well. I recommend you ditch it.

Why? True diversity is when a school strives to have a student body that represents the entire country and that means having kids who have a variety of ethnic backgrounds. We will soon not be a majority white population but many ethnicities and it is great if a school acknowledges that. Too often we think doversitynis one group of people but that leaves out so many.

Like most posts on this forum, yours limits the idea of diversity to race alone. Private schools by their very nature are not diverse. Parents do not want true diversity. They are paying to avoid it.

This is how a small child might consider the concept of diversity as applied to private schools.

If you are talking financial then private’s also have more diversity with financial did. If you live in Potomac or Chevy Chase or Great Falls etc then everyone is wealthy and that is only what you see at the public schools.

I guess there are "stupid" Asians for making comments like "Asians don't pay for private". Rich Asians also don't want to hang out with poor Asians or any poor people in general. Rich people hang out with rich people regardless of race. Nothing new here.

You cannot really believe that. In the DC area in general and most specific school zones/neighborhoods (including those in NoVa you mention and others in MoCo) public schools have a wider range of HHI and greater socioeconomic diversity than the major (non-Catholic) privates.

This is a little mean, but I agree. The issue is this: typically private schools are majority white. If anything more diverse is possible, the school will strive to have representation of the minority (but who are in this case, the majority) groups in the surrounding area. It would be great if every "race" were representing in these top schools. But sometimes it is not possible and at the end of the day, in spite of recruiting, the people who apply are those that apply.

South Asian, or East Asian?

Diversity = all different shades of rich kids.

Getting back to the public schools in Potomac, Wayside Elementary has the highest concentration of Asians, with a higher percentage of Asians than Whites. 41% Asian, 39%, White. Sounds to me that Asians gravitate to strong pubic schools. I know my neighborhood has become very Asian to the point you hear Chinese spoken almost as much as English.

In MS and US, Sidwell has a lot of Asian Americans, from South and East Asia. I’d say 1/3 Asian in some grades.
Anonymous
Sidwell is mostly interested in south asians, not east asians.
Anonymous
What makes Sidwell "interested" in one ethnic group versus another? Or is that mostly a function of the applicant pool?

That doesn't explain the TJ results. Asian families are smart with money. They are saving for grad school where the big private names count. Elementary, high school and college are often public so the savings can be spent on the elite grad program.
