| We're asian family and are planning to apply for K this year. We toured Potomac, GDS, and Sidwell last year and saw very few asian students in LS. Potomac seems to have more asian families. Does anyone know how many asian students are there in each class or each grade at LS? |
| Why is it important to you? |
OP. Because I don't want my DC be the only asian student in the class. The other post said they hope to have 5 AA kids in each class. If we can have 2 asian kids in each class I'm happy so my kid in not the only asian...

You must be a clueless white person. |
| There are many Asians in the lower school at Sidwell. Why don't you ask the admissions offices to provide you with demographic information on the class? |
| The best Potomac elementaries - Bells Mill, Seven Locks, Beverly Farms - are overflowing with Asians. |
| The OP is undoubtedly talking about the Potomac School, which is an "elite" private school in Virginia. |
| Asians don't pay for private - they're smart...lol |
Not a ton, but there are 2 or 3 in my child's classroom. I know Asian parents at Potomac. They love it. I cannot personally see these SPECIFIC asian families at GDS. I am not generalizing about Asians in general. |
| We are a mixed race Asian family at a DC private and man. It is not common to see other Asian families. |
| There's a much larger Asian population in NoVa, which is why Potomac has more Asian students. We moved our DS from a DC private to Potomac School a few years ago and couldn't be believe what a bubble he had been in. Potomac is much more reflective of the diversity in our area than the DC private schools. |
What? There are many different kinds of DC privates. Without being more specific, this statement is meaningless. |

+1. Agreed. Overall, Asians make up a small percentage of the DC population. Now: clearly, the makeup of the population of the city is often NOT in step with the makeup of private school student populations. Most significant case in point: African Americans. |
