That...does not look like the same person. Not to mention the fact that they named the jailed doula - Angela Hock. |
Oh, it definitely is her. If you search for "Angee Hock" she comes up as Angela on sites (like a national waterbirth supply site with the the photo of "Angee" from the gofundme. She's also Angee on a doulamatch site: https://doulamatch.net/profile/13757/angee-hock, and here's her own site: https://www.nebraskabirthkeeper.com/angee. She lives in Kearney, Nebraska.

^^besides the fact that Nebraska just doesn't have a lot of people, not likely there are two Angee Hock doulas in Nebraska with the same bone structure. Don't let the mug shot reality vs. the gofundme portrait fool you.
Oh, and there is this, where she apparently talked about openly skirting the law. And references her Nebraska Birth Keepers business. https://www.ketv.com/article/unlicensed-midwife-accused-in-newborns-death-talked-openly-about-skirting-the-law/28287088 I am sure with the best of intentions. |
Well, I'll be damned PP you're right. I notice she never once says she's had any kind of skilled medical training or any certifications either. She's a quack who homeschools. My name is Angee Hock. My journey as a birth professional began in 2004, consulting with moms in pregnancy and birth. I began attending births as a doula in 2013, before discovering my calling to help women find their power and ancient wisdom through traditional midwifery. I’m excited and honored to be a part of each birth story. I am very passionate about all things relating to birth and women’s health. I am forever a student, continuously learning and growing in wisdom and knowledge through classes, podcasts, reading, conferences, and webinars. ? My real curiosity for birth began after my second child was born. After being repeatedly lied to during my induction, I walked away from my son’s birth feeling confused. I believed his induction birth was fighting against nature, which felt wrong. I wondered how many other women felt the same way. With my third and fourth children, I desired to gain more knowledge about the physiological child birthing process. Since that time, I have trained and/or experienced many different birth scenarios. Though I possess knowledge in many birthing techniques, I am a natural undisturbed home birth advocate. I believe that we were created to birth without invention and that women possess the God-given wisdom and intuition to birth their babies free from regulation. I also believe in women making truly informed choices about their births. I am married with four amazing children, which I homeschool. I also enjoy many activities including camping, hunting, quilting, and hiking, We all currently live north of Kearney, Nebraska. |
What kind of idiot hires Gwyneth Paltrow to oversee her birth and the fragile care of her newborn as its brought into this world?
As women, we inherently absorb multi-energies around us. Some energies can be life-giving; however, others can also be stresses, trauma, ancestral trauma, environmental toxins, and more. Trained by Tami Kent, I learned by attending to the physical, spiritual, emotional, and energetic alignment in your pelvic bowl, you can cleanse and expand your vibrant energy to flows more freely in your body and all areas of your life. |
She has an associate's degree, NO TRAINING, ZERO CERTIFICATIONS, and only has CPR proficiency??!
Oh. My. God. https://doulamatch.net/profile/13757/angee-hock, |
NP. Hey, I'll take a stab at it! Oh, shoot. It seems to be backwards.
You can find not-very-good studies which show home births are safer, but check the comparison groups. They are not comparing groups at similar risk levels. |
Maybe PP thinks home births are "always safer. Fact" because the babies are more likely to go to heaven? |
Wait so she wasn't even a midwife or claiming to be, just a doula? A doula tried to deliver the baby? That's not what doula's do. |
I didn't. New.poster there. This here is only my second post in this thread. I almost never resort to name calling, eben in retaliation. It doesn't advance discourse or help understanding. And in calling people names and insulting them, you're ignoring relevant statistics. That's not useful at all. This is a bad situation. A potentially bad actor (this midwife) conned ( or the mother herself let herself be conned,). But this is a separate issue from the existence of home birth in general. Inany situation, there are always bad actors. Doesn't mean we throw up our hands and call the whole thing bad. No one would ever fly in that case considering almost every plane crash is pilot error. And you don't have to be a home birther to see their side of the issue. I'm not. |
We have got to get past the misogynistic and deadly cult of natural birth. |
Natural birth is not the same as home birth. How is a natural birth deadly? And it is women making these choices. If anything, it is misogyny to say women who looked at stats and decided how what on what they felt is best are dangerous stupid and negligent. |
Sorry for typos can't see this tiny text without my glasses. |
I am not sure how you can legitimately make the claim that the behavior in this case wasn't grossly negligent. And yes, the idealization of natural birth is cult-like. |
I don’t think it’s fair to lump all home births with this specific bone birth. Home births can be safe, when low risk, supervised by a professional well trained attendant who will recognize signs of trouble quickly, and there is clear plan b in place for if complications happen and easy and quick option to get to a hospital.
This was exact opposite. The birth was high risk due to breech. The attendant had zero training and no ability to recognize when things got beyond her ability - she had so little knowledge that she couldn’t envision the multiple scenarios breech vaginal birth complications. Her having 2 or 4 children does not qualify her to attend births, just like me having 2 csections does not qualify me to perform |
