"Sales of Volvo Cars’ award-winning SUV line-up boosted the result, with growth across all main regions driven in particular by the XC60 and the XC40, which hit showrooms at the beginning of the year. The company’s new V60 and V60 Cross Country also gave a boost to the volumes, while the new US-made S60 sedan is starting to reach dealerships.

During the January to November period, US sales grew by a robust 24.5 per cent to 89,437 cars compared with the same period last year. The strong performance came on the back of growing demand for its SUV line-up, led by the XC60. In November, Volvo Cars sold 8,181 cars, up 4.2 percent compared with the same month last year."

My Volvo XC90 has an incredible sound system. That alone might get me to get one again. I wish there was more upfront storage space, and the electrical is a little quirky, but i love the car overall. The other luxury suvs were more expensive. Fwiw the other cars I looked at were the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, Honda suv, and Audi suv. Had a minivan before this car.

Perhaps the laminated glass in the panoramic sunroof has something to do with Volvo popularity among parents who put safety first. It is much safer car then others who don't have this safety feature.

At $46k, it’s more of a competitor to the MDX or the Honda Pilot. Volvo’s are junk and depreciate very quickly.

Yeah, I know, all that area, people are renting and saving for a home so they are driving crap. It kind of changes when you move in a stable neighborhood and then you will see better brands coming in and out the hood because otherwise they park inside so you don't see good cars outside at all.

I live in a neighborhood of all single family homes with large garages, very few renters, and almost every family has a minivan + either a Dad Truck or a smaller commuter car. Can't think of anyone with a Volvo of any kind (and I do car line every day at elementary and preschool). Sorry to bust your theory.

Hilarious! Most of the families we know have minivans, not Volvo SUVs. We are a two lawyer family and we have a 2009 Toyota Sienna and a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. Not into overpriced cars.

Never heard of it and the sunroof glass is the last thing in the world I would be concerned with while car shopping. Can't imagine this is a factor for anyone but, well, you.
