Why Volvo SUVs seem to be the most popular car of choice for families?

Most people I know who used to be driving Mercedes, BMW and likes of, as soon as they have the first baby on the way run to get Volvo. Is this because they are tad cheaper then the German fair? Is this because they have aura of the safest cars for the kids or is it because this is the thing to have because everybody else has it. You really do not see much anybody driving kids in their Beamers, let alone Mercedes but you see a kid in every single Volvo that is out there. It is really interesting because the price is not that much of a factor. However the Volvo really did fantastic job redesigning their interior a year ago and now they left the German brands in the dust when you look what you buy for the same money. Somehow they managed to put into standard pack all or most what others make you buy as add on that adds up.

I just checked the local dealership and it seems that one can have easily their largest SUV X90 for as little as 46K  before you even start negotiating. Wow! That is a hell of a really nice car for that little. Nice features too.

This seems to be going price. Bethesda Volvo too, all nice cars. Really affordable at this price point. No wonder they are so popular.

| That car is a four cylinder if I’m reading it correctly. They will have to pry my BMW X5 in-line six cylinder from my cold dead hands. I don’t care if this Volvo is cheaper. First time I need to enter a highway and it is lagging I’d be upset with it. |

Not sure where you live, but we have only 2 in the neighborhood. The rest of the SUVs are Mazda5s an CR-Vs.
A neighbor got rid of his Ranger and has a CR-V now. I bet that Ranger left him on the road somewhere. It was new. |

Volvo is Chinese junk sold to pretentious Euro trash yuppies who want to pretend they're modest.
Buy a Tahoe or Yukon like a real modest American. Ford Expedition is acceptable, too. All three are assembled in the US. |

I love my Volvo, but no way would I buy a big xc90 (or any of their suv/wagons) with a 4 cylinder engine. Nope. |

| Well, we live in the suburbs so I don’t know about cool city people, but almost all the moms I know drive minivans or Subaru’s, and most of the dads drive those Middle Aged Man dad trucks. No Volvo’sx |
