Did Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx break up?

I root hard for anyone who escapes cults or dungeon living. And especially hard for anyone who escapes cruise.

This is the primary reason I stan Nicole Kidman in every crazy movie she’s in (but she genuinely blew me away in Big Little Lies).

I’ve heard such nice things about Foxx. I live not too far from him and he is apparently really friendly to everyone. I do agree it is an incredibly odd pairing.

I always thought that her "getting away" from Cruise was a bunch of manufactured melodrama. It just struck me as phony baloney.

Cruise is a decent actor but he is also an idiot. How hard would it really be to "get away" from an idiot?

Obvi you don’t follow cruise gossip!

+1. Seriously. Google "David Miscavige" and then come back to the convo.

Every time I see Jamie Foxx all I can think of is his Ugly Girl Character. He is a riot.

nailed it

My friend knew her in her Dawson's days and said she had the personality of a piece of cardboard.

We ran in the same circles in high school - I didn't really know her b/c I went to a different school, but my friends at her school basically said the same thing.

Pretty sure her lawyer dad was the mastermind behind her “escape”

More than that, watch Leah Remini's show. It's eye opening. Those people are dangerous.

This Maureen Orth story in VF was wild:

I think Katie seems to be dull, but I doubt she really is that boring. I think she has this fake persona so the media kind of just leaves her alone

After Tom- she does NOT like the spotlight in tabloids. Maybe shes hilarious and throws wild parties, but we will never know

DP I hate when people say this because we all behave differently to different people. Maybe your friend was someone that Katie Holmes did not like? Why would she give her best self to someone like that? I personally don't know her or care about her but, seriously we aren't going to take one person's view point of a celebrity or anyone.

NP. Perhaps, but what has she ever said or done or worn or well, anything, that was particularly interesting?

Another NP. I don't know but I find it refreshing that she's not an attention whore and seems like a private person. That alone makes her interesting to me.

I was going to say exactly the opposite. They’ve always seemed like a strange pairing to me because she is reserved and ladylike and he is obnoxious and loud. Never understood what she sees (or saw) in him.

Nah. The first PP had it right IMHO. He is very interesting, talented with a great range. She's like the third photocopy of every ingenue from the aughts. It's not ladylike -she's just super boring. Her biggest accomplishment was getting away from Tom Cruise by stealth. The only other thing interesting about her is the undercover relationship with Jamie for the last five years.

You really don't know anything about her - pretty harsh judgment. She seems interesting enough to me.

Really curious - what about her do you find interesting? I will never forget the Parade article about her and Tom Cruise when they first got together that has since been scrubbed from the internet. Here’s a reference:
https://www.laineygossip.com/Tom-Cruise-Katie-Holmes-Jesse-Metcalfe-Toms-Parade-Interview/3695

She seemed dazed, passive and vacant. She never stopped smiling.

If Parade of all magazines writes that about a celebrity the situation must be pretty bad

What a trashy and stupid site that is - you believe that stuff?

Seriously. Another example of anyone being able to say anything about any person and people actually believing them.

I also have a pretty bland personality. My dh would say I’m a firecracker but I’ll admit that what I present to 99% of other people IS me. Maybe cardboard.

But I’m super lovable, kind, cute, and yes again, different character with people that I trust.

Yet, her daring and dramatic escape from Cruise is well know. For such a private person, she sure does have a lot of her personal business out there.
