But the BC should actually eliminate these hormonal swings .... because she isn't ovulating.

Nope, can confirm hormones still swing.

Oh, good to know!

This x 1000. Enjoy!

So which is more commonly associated with increased libido: right near the beginning of her period (end of cycle) or right near ovulation (early/mid cycle?)

I have not heard of this end of cycle horny-ness, except maybe knowing the period is coming and that my DH will not want to do it on heavy days might make me initiate in that time frame. For me it’s definitely early cycle/ovulation. I just think about sex multiple times a day in that window whereas after ovulation - not thinking about it at all.

I think I've heard of sort of two different mechanisms at work. I might get this wrong since it's half remembered, but mid-cycle it's more of a hormonal shift having to do with the evolutionary benefits of a woman being horny when she's most likely to conceive. The end-cycle is more of a mechanical situation. Water retention kind of engorges the erogenous areas in a way that makes some women more interested in sex.

You had me at engorged.

It seems colossally unfair to cater only to HER hormones. What about YOUR hormones? You’re a guy right, so your testosterone is flowing 24x7x365 and you pretty much want sex every day, right?

Maybe compromise and go every other day.

I'm not complaining. After 20 years together, I'm happy I'm still getting laid at all. I'll take a 5 day binge and regular BJs. Not a hill I'm going to die on.

It's her cycle OP, female hormones go up and down every month.

Women get sick of the same thing (just like men), ovulation is your saving grace.

OP just be thankful your wife has a sex drive! You are doing better than most married men who don't have an AP!

It depends on where she is in her cycle.

Bingo!
When a woman is mid-cycle + ovulating, that is when her drive is at its peak.

This is Mother Nature’s way of letting her body know that it is time to conceive a child.
