But the BC should actually eliminate these hormonal swings .... because she isn't ovulating.

I don't think it eliminates all of the hormonal fluctuation, though.

Do you ever initiate?

PM me and I'll help you through this

It seems colossally unfair to cater only to HER hormones. What about YOUR hormones? You’re a guy right, so your testosterone is flowing 24x7x365 and you pretty much want sex every day, right?

Maybe compromise and go every other day.

So which is more commonly associated with increased libido: right near the beginning of her period (end of cycle) or right near ovulation (early/mid cycle?)

End of cycle is most common, based on my experience and what I hear. I agree, it doesn't seem to make sense.

Nope, can confirm hormones still swing.

She might have a small innocent crush on someone else and you’re just reaping the benefits...

I'm super horny when I'm pregnant. Like out of control horny. Need it twice a day kind of horny.

Then the baby is born and I couldn't care less for a year. Even sexy thoughts feel repulsive. It's totally hormones.

Well I suppose if you feel one shouldn’t compromise when it comes to sex, then he should just get a girlfriend or 2 for the low interest parts of his wife’s cycle. I mean, you don’t expect him to compromise, right?

I have not heard of this end of cycle horny-ness, except maybe knowing the period is coming and that my DH will not want to do it on heavy days might make me initiate in that time frame. For me it’s definitely early cycle/ovulation. I just think about sex multiple times a day in that window whereas after ovulation - not thinking about it at all.

I think I've heard of sort of two different mechanisms at work. I might get this wrong since it's half remembered, but mid-cycle it's more of a hormonal shift having to do with the evolutionary benefits of a woman being horny when she's most likely to conceive. The end-cycle is more of a mechanical situation. Water retention kind of engorges the erogenous areas in a way that makes some women more interested in sex.
