Go ahead and explain how soccer in this area is as good or better than areas like So Cal, No Cal, the Pacific NW, NJ, PA, NY, GA, TX, FL, etc. As another poster said, there are some elite players but this area has fallen off from where it was 20-30 years ago.

It's a numbers game. The places you mention beat this area in numbers. Not to mention the number of egghead douchebags in this area has risen steadily, which further dilutes the athlete pool.

U17s didn't win any games. They did a decent result against Continental ECNL. At final score of 4-2 in favor of Continental, FCV also lost to them 3-1. They lost to PDA White ECNL 2-0.

There are rumors that the new owner will be setting higher expectations and that the way rosters are being handled will not continue.

In terms of what? Just not letting the 07 play that far up?

I don't have any details for you. I would say ask the leadership. All I heard was that the new owner wants better results than what has happened so far. I doubt he was focused on just one player. I'm sure he's looking at across the board performance.

+1 Nailed it. Beltway parents are clueless about how shitty these kickballers are.

Poster above cites some of the largest hotbeds of soccer to compare to. No, NOVA is not #1, but yes we’re in top 10 to 15. Part of the issue with the teams in NOVA is an oversaturation of DA and ECNL clubs for our population. McLean, Loudoun, Arlington, FCV, Spirit, BRYC, and VDA all have ECNL or DA teams. Way too much diffusion of talent for a super competitive top tier team. Instead of 7 clubs with this, there should be 2. This would also end up making better EDP / NPL / CCL clubs. Compares this to MD which basically has Spirit MD (DA) and Bethesda (ECNL), along with Mont. Rush (EDP) for roughly the same population. It is simple math, not player talent or coaching. There needs to be some consolidation, or NOVA will continue to struggle against other regional super clubs’ top tier teams.

Tangent note is the number of competing leagues (EDP / CCL / NPL / NCSL and the ECNL and DA leagues) with no discernible hierarchy also diffuses talent in our area. Everyone thinks they have a better approach than the other person. Now even Barca and Bayern are moving into this wealthy quagmire of parents itching to spend their money. No end in site, but still love the game.

True for the 15s as well. They had a GD of 0 this weekend w/o the 07. GD of -4 when 07 was on the field. Helps no one to have a play up by that many years

100% agree with you that that's too much of a gap to play up. AND if it's a showcase to let colleges see players, obviously she's not yet relevant at 2007. But have to believe other changes to personnel were also made that created those scoring opportunities. Not just 1 player's mistakes or lack of impact?

That is unfortunate at a showcase designed to promote players who are looking for college views. What kind of Mueller-style information does this 07s family have on all of these coaches? Could WSVA 06 be record positive if the 07 was playing up for them? According to the 05 record, the 07 wasn’t able bring them along to a positive record either. I am not sure, but it sounds like a common issue, the players surrounding are just not good enough, has WSVA staff thought about placing her on the u17s?

The 06 team would love to have her! Her mom would likely not think that would be acceptable though...

And why not? 2006 competition is tough in the DA. I doubt it’s beneath her abilities to compete with kids on those teams and the 2006 team would benefit from her presence.

Why are we discussing 06s when she should be with 02s?

If you are serious then that's pretty foolish. She's small next to a 2006 let alone a 2002. Size means a lot at these age differences, no matter what anyone says. She could make an impact with the 2005s or 2006s, but any other age group is a bridge too far for any player who is that young and not abnormally mature, to go with the higher skill level.
