| That is quite disappointing that parents were screaming at each other. Even more surprising is that the team lost 0-7. That is a strong team and I can't another team that good to beat that FCV team. I guess even Brazil w/o Neymar but with a talented group was destroyed by Germany at the 2014 World Cup and Chelsea was crushed last week by ManCity. It happens but the parent behavior is disturbing. |
That is a very interesting conclusion perhaps not fully supported by observations and actual need at least for the u14s, maybe the u15s also. After doing some adequate research, and your better understanding of the issues at play, perhaps you could come back to the discussion of what the teams require to play better rather than chase a long over the top or through ball and win on speed. |
Don't be a jerk for no reason. If you don't score, you cannot win games. Stands to reason that you need someone to shoot the ball. I'm not at ALL arguing for over the top play -- and it may not be strikers but midfielders/wings who are needed to give better service. But there need to be more shots.... sometimes after good service from the wing, sometimes after having made some great, aggressive dribbling through the middle. Other times by simply having the leg and the willingness to take the shot from outside the 18. Which most of the other DA teams do. |
Agree--this is where the breakdown occurs on a few of the Spirit teams, final third play/finishing. Also agree with the idea that a few players per team could make the difference. It has nothing to do with longball, it has to do with the ability/willingness of the players up top to take on calculated risks in small groups. |
Not good |
Based on your ideas, WSVA would need a roster where those players in the positions your describing have their fundamentals almost perfected. That would be a refreshing change from reality. |
| News flash: Soccer isn't very good in this area. |
| One or two players would not change the issues the u14s are having with the results. The number is exacerbated by the rostering decisions of the former and current coaches. |
Overall NOVA soccer might be the strongest, but there are some very talented players who can play. The older players in ECNL bear witness to this. |
True for the 15s as well. They had a GD of 0 this weekend w/o the 07. GD of -4 when 07 was on the field. Helps no one to have a play up by that many years |
100% agree with you that that's too much of a gap to play up. AND if it's a showcase to let colleges see players, obviously she's not yet relevant at 2007. But have to believe other changes to personnel were also made that created those scoring opportunities. Not just 1 player's mistakes or lack of impact? |
Looks like the troll has come out from under his bridge. |
| There’s a 5th or 6th grader playing on a team with girls in high school? That sounds like a social nightmare for the little girl. |

U19s had mixed results. They tied Continental ECNL 1-1. For some reason, they had an astonishing 0-6 against Penn Fusion. Might be their worst result ever.
U17s didn't win any games. They did a decent result against Continental ECNL. At final score of 4-2 in favor of Continental, FCV also lost to them 3-1. They lost to PDA White ECNL 2-0. There are rumors that the new owner will be setting higher expectations and that the way rosters are being handled will not continue. |
Go ahead and explain how soccer in this area is as good or better than areas like So Cal, No Cal, the Pacific NW, NJ, PA, NY, GA, TX, FL, etc. As another poster said, there are some elite players but this area has fallen off from where it was 20-30 years ago. |
