You are a snob and a half.

There are over 600 public 4yr colleges and over 1800 private 4yr colleges.

C'mon, 205 is pretty well down the list. 80% acceptance rate. Can't see that degree cutting much ice back here in the East. Except maybe with the Dept. of the Interior or somewhere like that.

About on par with Humboldt State. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Who would want to move back east? It honestly sucks here. Everyone acts rich and happy, but most are anxious and depressed drips of life just trying to fake their way thru another day.

OP, I fully support going to a college that has degrees they are interested in and place that will make them happy. And yes, merit aid is a HUGE draw and that is okay.

Op why even ask here? If your kid will he happy, go for it. Just went through this with miami and clark. Lots of reasons to pick a school but most of the dcum posters are unnaturally obsessed with admission numbers, yield etc. Have your kid follow his gut.

it is amazing how ridiculous some of the comments on here are about religious groups, the ranking, and saying you went to Montana State, if you guys ever get out of your bubble you would realize most people who go to college don't go to top schools and don't judge people by the school they went to or of they are religious or not.

They are on every campus!

Sounds amazing. A friend got a masters at U of Montana in Missoula and just loved being out west, near mountains and outdoor lifestyle. Bozeman is even better. I went to a destination wedding near there. It was stunningly beautiful and everyone was lamenting not living in such a place of natural beauty and healthier living. It's good for the soul and your kid will be just as employable as anywhere else, possibly moreso depending on his interests.

What’s your point?

Why do I have to have a point? Just pointing out that there are numerous Christian organizations at Montana State.

Yes, just like UVA has.

My own instinctive reaction is, “Will my nice Jewish kid find any other Jews there?”

Google’s response: Bozeman has a Reform temple and a Chabad Center.

In case there are any Muslim centers here: Bozeman also has an Islamic Center.

Why does your Jewish kid have to find other Jews there? Is he not able to be friends with kids outside of his own religion?

My earnest answer: Does anybody ever really want to be the "only" of something?

My snarky answer: So you have someone to commiserate with when people ask about your horns.

I'm also from the PNW and many of my classmates went to MSU. The majority of those were into rodeo and received rodeo scholarships. A number of them went to get out of our state (OR) and still be close enough to home and also ski, camp, etc... It's perfect for those who love the outdoors.

We know exactly what you’re doing, and it’s gross.

*shrug* and JMU or Muhlenberg or whatever cut no ice outside of their respective geographic locations, not sure what your point is.

The people dumping on the north east, I love Montana but to be fair it has its own problems as well.

Lots of drugs and I belive MT has the highest suicide rate in the country. Drunk driving rates are some of the highest in the country as well.

Sure the Californian expats in Bozeman are doing great but they made their money outside of MT before moving.

And the kids going to college love it too

My FIL was a professor at MSU for many years. He would say that MSU is a solid state school, and can provide a very good education to a motivated student.

The quality of life in Bozeman is outstanding for anyone who loves the outdoors and can tolerate long winters. The winter weather there is often really beautiful - cold, but bright, sunny, and clear. DH grew up there, and found winters in Massachusetts (where he went to college) much more challenging.
