Absolutely! No more crating without a pee first. I have learned my lesson. |
+1 I have had labs all my adult life. 8 hours is too long, particularly for a one year old. OP, you need to take him out more often. 3x/day is not sufficient. |
|
| They already need to hold it a long stretch overnight. Add another pee run or two in the evening. |
|
OP, you are criticizing everyone for their reading comprehension skills but you are severely lacking in clear writing skills.
I "think" after re-reading your post and this thread that you normally do not leave your dog for long stretches but I am not so sure - since you are not clear. Your dog should not be in a crate all day. If you do not have a yard for your dog to run around in, your dog should be walked 5x a day. Regardless of your lack of writing skills, my guess is you are not a responsible pet owner. Dogs rarely IF EVER pee in their crates. |

| OP, you’re annoying and your writing is not clear. But it sounds like you’ve learned a lesson and will let the dog out before crating. |
This. What the hell. |
|
OP— I have a Pug on this schedule. Works wonderfully. He gets a quick out maybe around 4 or so but if it is cold or raining he won’t go out and hold it for hours.
I also have a chocolate lab (large breed). Needs 2xs as many out times as Pug. Big and dumb. Sweetest thing ever though. Size doesn’t matter. Take your dog out more. |
You must be a Trumper. Animal cruelty is nothing to you. |
He does not need to. He is a large breed. He has two long walks and one short walk every day. Ask your vet. He *did* not need to. Now he's shown you it's taxing on his body to wait that long to pee. |

I think crates for animals are cruel - be it a cage in a house,a zoo or an animal research facility. Keeping animals in small cages where they can barely turn around is so backwards.

| Just because I can hold my pee for 10 hours dose not mean I should, or that it is good for me. |
| My lab pees at least twice as much as that a day. |
