New Spirit owner will actually phase out the DA academy.
No way this will happen...without DA academy, season ticket sales will plummet...
It will happen
Pretty odd that they are grabbing people who are at the top of youth soccer in the area if they are going to drop their youth soccer program, don'tcha think??
Different poster: I have no reason to think the DA is going away, but there is ZERO about this that is DA related. He was hired for the pro team.
This is incorrect. He was hired as CEO of the organization. That covers the entire business operation. Like it or not, the DA comprises a substantial portion of WS business operations. You’re thinking of Burke, who was hired as the coach. But even in that case, the previous coach was also the DA Academy Director. Or didn’t you already know that?
This thing just gets weirder and weirder. Unless Larry Best has another professional career that I don't know about (quite possible), it seems odd to hire a youth coach, even a tenured one like Best, to be the CEO of an NWSL franchise which is akin to a small to medium sized business. His coaching savvy won't help him much at running a business. Somebody please tell me he has another professional career outside of soccer that makes this make sense. And similarly, Burke has more experience coaching at the (boys) youth level than anything else. He appears to be a noob in the area of pro women's soccer.
