I'm a white liberal woman and I can't stand her.
But instead of focusing on her and seething with rage, I just...don't watch or read anything about her. Not sure why that's so hard. |
+1. I ignore celebs that don’t interest me. My mother becomes obsessed with hating them and I don’t know why. Such a waste of time and energy. |
| The article is definitely more of a hit piece of the "give her just enough rope to do it herself" variety. |
| I don't know anyone who cares about her at all. |
Typical celebrity stupidity. Now, why are you so obsessed with skin color? |
+1 Conservatives are hateful morons though so it's not surprising that they would rather just stew over her instead of moving on. |

These threads half make me laugh.
Hers the reality: apparently no one liked / likes the Backstreet Boys, NIckelback, Justin Bieber, Lena Dunham, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, the 50 Shades Trilogy, or Donald Trump. Oh, and no one cares about Alec Baldwin anymore. I assure you none of these people are worried about the fact that they are irrelevant. |
| She has rich, well-connected parents and they have opened way too many doors for her. I think she's boring. If I want to talk to a "creative" white girl with a trust fund I'll talk to one of my NGO colleagues. |

Here's a comment from the comment section of The Cut to ponder, for all of you who hate her so much:
"I think our society is far too hung up on perfection, as judged by these petty little purity tests. Judging from these comments, Dunham's work--its nudity, its insensitivity, its focus on the self--clearly makes some people tremendously uncomfortable. It's not just that it isn't for them (because who reads an article this long about a TV writer whose work they aren't really into?), but it fills them with such strong emotions that they feel compelled to read this huge article in order to write nasty comments about Dunham, her body, her work, etc. I suppose it can be unpleasant being reminded that we also are imperfect; that most of us probably look a bit more like Dunham in our underwear than like underwear models, for example, or that we also probably seem sad and needy when we talk about exes after breakups, or that we also put our foot in it sometimes or sometimes come across as being a little too impressed with ourselves. I'm all for TV shows/movies that are just feel-good experiences, we all need that sometimes. But we need the kind of art that challenges us to really see ourselves and grow, too." |
| White liberal woman and loathe her. I also ignore and have not given her a thought till this thread. |
| I pay her little attention. HBO loved her because Sex and the City the show and movies had ended and HBO wanted a women in NYC to fill that void for millenials. |
That was hysterical! |
+1 I enjoyed that show, though admittedly I hate-watched much of it. Now that it's over, she hasn't crossed my mind. |
Well, that was a race-laden and ridiculous post.
|
But white liberals aren't.
