Why are white liberals obsessed with Lena Dunham?

I'm a liberal, I never watched her show, and the only reason I know as much as I do about her is because of the people complaining about her. She's intentionally controversial, and it clearly is working. I don't know anyone who is obsessed with her in a positive sense, but I've sure encountered people who are obsessed with her in a negative sense.

I am a liberal and I do not care about Lena Dunham. It seems it is not a race thing. White people get obsessed with other White people all the time and sometimes they get obsessed about biracial people whose SO is White. More a White tribal thing = now that worldwide their population is shrinking.

this is what kills me about it. she literally says it in the article - she writes something, stars in it, and people say "i love everything about this project but the main girl" without knowing the whole thing is her brainchild.

i think she's ridiculous and over the top but i can also appreciate that it's intentional and for those who hate her - she made you feel that way, intentionally.

SO girls was groundbreaking in the sense that the female lead can be fat/homely but still wanted and smart and sarcastic and everything all leads are. The writing was really quick and funny too. Storyline was good for awhile. It was an accomplishment. But she's really kinda driven off to something else. She is very extreme and self obsessed. I also don't think she's had much career success lately. I feel terrible for anyone that young who needs those surgeries though!

I disagree that it’s all intentional. I have never seen any hint, anywhere, that there is a likeable person hiding behind a loathsome but artificial public persona. She may milk the loathsomeness, but does not appear artificial.

Judd Apetow likes LD and she is working on the show "Camping" or some name like that with Ben Affleck's former wife.

LD is pretty talented, just weird and fat. Maybe cut her some slack OP or just don't watch if you don't want to. Why do women always "fat-shame" other women? Shame on you OP.
