Oh, boy. Did they have any student reps? What on earth are they thinking?

Why is Washington-Loving such a problem? It seems like a very strong and progressive choice. I hope it wins.

Yuck. Stupid name and the couple had no connection to Arlington or NoVa. Couldn’t be a worse choice.

Not politically correct enough; two white men.

Come on. LINCOLN isn’t PC enough???

Yeah, really. Discovery elementary is named that because they didn't want to name it after astronaut, us senator and local resident John Glenn. Because he was a white dude. No one would say that out loud or admit it, but note, no problem naming Fleet after a non- white dude. that's how it goes.

They couldn't name it after John Glenn because he was still alive and school policy is to not name after living people. Had nothing to do with him being a white man.

Lol, so they made themeselves a rule preventing themselves from naming it after Glenn? What's the difference?

This is so weird, naming a school after about first president, and a Supreme Court case almost 200 years after his death? It's like a pizza a ninja turtle would order. Just call it central high, Jesus.

How about Washington-McLovin high? Because that is what teenagers are going to call it.

Do you have children who will attend the school?

That name is truly awful and makes no sense.

Seriously the SB sets policy and then creates its own pain.

Even the town the Lovings lives in didn’t name the high school after them.

So in an effort to keep the W&L “name” they stretch to this. Embarrassing. Who was on this naming committee? Certainly no one with any common sense.

Would it be the first high school names after someone whose only claim to fame is being a party in a Supreme Court case?

Yorktown and Wakefield share names with the streets they are on. Let’s just go with Quincy High. Make it all consistent.

The couple was amazing! They happened to have a name that just doesn't work well for a SCHOOL. And it really doesn't work in combination with Washington, or any other name really. Man, maybe they should've let Bernie Bern be on the committee.
