| I wonder what other names the committee came up with. Theo e for the new middle school offered 3 options. |
| Wait, is this the real naming committee suggestion? Is there really no other L that will do? None? Because Loving, even though it's a proper name, should never be in a school's name. It's just asking for so many terrible jokes. Also, what will the mascot be? I shudder to think. |

The renaming committee is set to present a recommendation to the School Board on 12/20.
They have narrowed their list of names to the following: Washington-Lincoln Washington-Loving Washington-Liberty Washington-Tubman Washington-Lee (swapping William Lee, a slave who was an assistant to Washington, for Robert E. Lee). |
I vote for any of those other than Loving. |
That reminds me at the controversy at Stuart when one of the names under consideration was Barbara Rose Johns and some parents said the kids wouldn't be able to handle the "BJ" jokes. |
HarrietTubman has been one of my favorite historical figures since I was a little kid but how does Wash-Tub sound? |
Not great. Washington-Lincoln seems like the best of the lot by a long shot. |
|
Washington Loving is soooooooo bad
I hope they pick it. |
| From what I've been told, Washington-Loving was the number one choice of the committee and thus will be the only name formally presented to the school board. And I doubt the school board will reject it. |
Oh gosh. That’s the best Christmas gift! Sincerely, Yorktown |
I’m laughing way harder than I should at this! |
Oh, boy. Did they have any student reps? What on earth are they thinking? |
Why is Washington-Loving such a problem? It seems like a very strong and progressive choice. I hope it wins. |
