will eagle scout help get into Penn State?

If there is one school that might be helpful, it’s probably Penn State. Such a white ppl thing to do and the PS has a lot.

The answer is yes. Absolutely. When a boy (and now girl as well) can put on a college, military or employment application that they are an Eagle Scout, the effect is significant. It rises to the top if other factors are equal. It often overcomes a deficit in other evaluation categories. I have been part of the "sorting" process in these circumstances and it is a fact. If you have the capability of having your child obtain this distinction and she is headed into a competitive set of life circumstances, you serve that child well by making this possible. I am an Eagle. We get the monthly magazine, the BSA professionals run a sophisticated alumni organization that extends the connectivity and advantages throughout life, everyone at my firm knows who the Eagle Scouts are -- and they are usually in charge. Of course being an Eagle will not overcome being a slacker in academics. As for the racial comments, minority children who are Eagle Scouts rise to the absolute pinnacle of minority and majority leadership in this country. There just isn't anything racial about it. Yeah. That's not true. Clearly you don't know much about Eagle Scout. Not only did it get one of my kids into a great college, but it was what got him a fantastic job after graduation. The hiring manager was also Eagle. He flat out told my son his Eagle Scout was the tie breaker. I wish my other boys had stayed with it.

Any girl who wants to earn Eagle Scout can do so starting in February, and this even includes girls over 16. Because the BSA wants older girls to have a fair chance of earning Eagle, it is making a temporary transition exception for any girl or boy who is over 16 but not yet 18 as of February 1, 2019. These Scouts can request an extension so they have at least 24 months to complete their Eagle Scout requirements. All other Eagle Scout requirement remain the same and no exceptions will be made. This will still be very challenging and will require interested older girls to work very diligently to earn Eagle in 24 months.

B.S. -- name the "great college" being an Eagle Scout got your kid into or it didn't happen.

URM status, grades, SAT all vastly more important.
