Just moved to CCMD, who should we vote for?

I don’t like that Hogan refused to take a stand against Trump’s Muslim ban or Kavanaugh. Plus businesses are moving out of Maryland at a rapid rate. What’s the point of having a Republican for Governor of Maryland? We have the high taxes anyway with none of the social benefits.
As for Floreen, she sucks. She wouldn’t even allow a hearing on school overcrowding for the Bethesda plan, which adds a lot of residential housing in two areas with extremely overcapacity schools. She is in the pocket of real estate developers.

+1. If you live in Chevy Chase, your public school is likely way over capacity. Nancy Floreen does not care and rubber stamps anything the developers want. I didn’t vote for Elrich in the primary but he is better than Floreen.

OP said she was fiscally conservative. Elrich would not be a good choice for her.

She also said socially liberal. That’s not Floreen, since most liberals at least pretend to care about the conditions of the schools in their area. Floreen doesn’t.

She is simply meanspirited and condescending. She is terrible with handling concerns of actual people, if she doesn't think she or her real estate friends will benefit from what you have to say, she'll ignore you. She acts like she always knows more than you and is better than you. She is everything Hillary Clinton got wrong in 2016 times a thousand.

Posts like this will have the opposite effect of what you intend. Just FYI.

If that's what you want, then suit yourself. Don't say you weren't warned. Sorry, but that's my experience.
It isn't as if I am the only person saying this, either. Ask anyone (who is not in real estate) who has had to interact with her and you will get the same answer. She simply is not a nice person. If someone is so contrarian as to vote for someone just because an angry constituent says this, well, then that shows that people who support her are decidedly contrarian and nihilistic. Go ahead. I'd take Ficker OR Elrich over her. I'd take my dog over her. Dogs are at least lawyer. This woman is so dismissive of everyone who disagrees with her.

*Loyal not lawyer. See, you see where my mind is, thinking about her. She's so awful there are no words.

This seems a bit over the top. Let me guess: You’re an Elrich fan.

He wasn't my first choice but I will vote for him now. I would even rather have Ficker. He's crazy but he isn't mean, and he at least responds to people. Nancy Floreen just doesn't care about you.

I agree with PP. About responsiveness.

Elrich will listen to you if you try hard enough (talking about in-person) but it is often very hard to pull him away from a long conversation with people he's friendly with. Once he does, though, he'll give you a very intelligent and thorough response.

Ficker will talk with anyone. The question is whether or not you want to hear him talk.

Floreen, I agree, is dismissive of people who don't already agree with her.

I actually found Leventhal to be the most responsive and helpful, even if personally off-putting in other ways.

WTF does fiscally conservative even mean? That you don't like giving up your own money to help people?

Dumb move.

I don't really care, do you?

Yep. Easier than actually thinking. Thinking is hard.

I’d love to see some evidence that Floreen doesn’t care about public schools. Can you provide some documentation?

Outgoing County Exec (and Democrat) Ike Leggett explains why Jealous's education plan will be bad for MoCo:

Jealous - Hogan has cut funding for education across the board. The Montgomery delegation was able to get some of it back. Hogan also has floated ridiculous ideas to expand the beltway and I270 that will never happen (Too expensive, won't solve the traffic problem- and oh, btw, how is that public/private plan on PUBLIC roads working in VA? It's not- privates aren't making anywhere near the anticipated amounts expected).

Elrich - Council President cannot raise taxes. People keep saying Marc will raise taxes. The County Exec CANNOT do this - would have to be unanimous among Council members. Floreen will continue to build and pave over our county (infill) without regard to overcrowded schools or parks. Marc is looking at these infrastructure items and wants them solved before bringing more people. We've lived here 20+ years, and traffic is so much worse now, and with Floreen in charge, it'll continue to get worse. Ficker? Really? On what basis? He has made a living getting DWIs dismissed (because we need those drunk drivers back on the roads), and is so obnoxious, has been thrown out of professional basketball games and is proud of heckling players. The guy is a nut job.

I think Elrich is a bit of a nut job too, tbh

There is no way on earth all the super left wing people are voting for Elrich because they think he’s going to solve all the traffic problems before he allows any further development. No way.

I’m the same description as you OP (except white) and I’m voting Hogan and probably Ficker. I’m a registered Democrat btw but Jealous and Elrich are too far left for me and Floreen is bad news for schools and roads.

Doesn’t require much thinking to know which party is better for the country. And CCMD is overwhelmingly Dem. Home for the smart and wealthy who know what’ makes sense.

Not the PP, but since I voted for Clinton in the primary and the general election, comparing Floreen to Clinton makes me like her more.
