PP again, I have to amend that because they've updated the location of the shooting in the article. There was actually the school building itself, the baseball diamond, a parking lot, a couple of houses and a couple of commercial buildings between where the kids were playing and where the shooting happened.

THATs a relief! It was in front of the preschool, not the elementary school. I live in the neighborhood and this is unacceptable, day or nights, half a block a way or on the grounds themselves.

Let me guess, you’re in a unit that could end up zoned for Drew this fall and you’re nervous about what those demographics might look like now that Montessori is moving out so you’re kicking up a fuss about Drew being a dangerous place in the hopes you’ll motivate your neighborhood to get your unit zoned elsewhere. Posting on Nextdoor would be a more effective way to reach them directly but then you’d have to put your name on it.

I pointed out that it ain't great when the surrounding neighborhood averages one shooting a year near the school. Sorry if offends you in an abstract way but I actually live here and care about it.

Im saying a shooting in broad daylight during school hours that results in the lockdown of a school absolutely belongs in this forum. It scares the sh1t out of parents whose kids are going to get rezoned there, as well as who go there right now. Your blase attitude tells me you have no stake in today's events, it's just an opportunity to argue.

The county board should be partnering with acpd. A shooting a year is starting to sound like that area is going backwards. The SB should be sensitive to farms number in the fall and not rezone struggling households currently zoned Oakridge. It’s going to take effort from all sides to improve that area. APS Included.

Of course it's something to worry about. It has nothing to do with the school though. People who live near there or who have a beef with people who live near there think it's ok to shoot each other. Not a place I'd want to raise my kids. If you can get out, why not get out?

I don't expect APS to do anything more than they are doing, and nowhere have I complained about their response. Locking the school down and getting kids inside was the right choice, IMO.

And last, I never said the school was the issue. I repeatedly said violence in the surrounding neighborhood was the issue, and was reflecting poorly on Drew. And that makes it an appropriate topic of discussion. I'll let you get the last word in, which will no doubt be yet another effort to mischaracterize my words.
