Across the street from the rear of the parcel, with a baseball diamond, the community center, the sprayground, and a roadway in between the incident and any kids outside. It did not involve the school, stop trying to make it like it did.

PP again, I have to amend that because they've updated the location of the shooting in the article. There was actually the school building itself, the baseball diamond, a parking lot, a couple of houses and a couple of commercial buildings between where the kids were playing and where the shooting happened. Let me guess, you’re in a unit that could end up zoned for Drew this fall and you’re nervous about what those demographics might look like now that Montessori is moving out so you’re kicking up a fuss about Drew being a dangerous place in the hopes you’ll motivate your neighborhood to get your unit zoned elsewhere. Posting on Nextdoor would be a more effective way to reach them directly but then you’d have to put your name on it.[/quote]

Nope. I live in Nauck proper and have for years. You're hearing a local speak some truth. I didn't slander the school. I pointed out that it ain't great when the surrounding neighborhood averages one shooting a year near the school. Sorry if offends you in an abstract way but I actually live here and care about it. Im saying a shooting in broad daylight during school hours that results in the lockdown of a school absolutely belongs in this forum. It scares the sh1t out of parents whose kids are going to get rezoned there, as well as who go there right now. Thanks for putting a finer point on my initial post: this shooting will lead a lot of current and potential Drew families to say, "it's time to move. It's not safe here." As I said, not a good look for the new Drew. Not the schools fault but the neighborhood violence is not a separate issue, unfortunately. [/quote]

It's irritating when someone tells me gunshots that result in a school lockdown in my own neighborhood are nothing to worry about, and, its racist to do so. I understand the impulse to protect Drew and downplay negative news, but it's not easy to do when you actually live here.[/quote]
