The Asian American community is grossly underrepresented in American media. So I think it’ll relate to way more Americans than you’re suggesting. |
| I saw an advance screening of the movie that Warner Brothers did at AMC Georgetown recently. The movie was a lot of fun and glorious to watch. |
| Me! |
AA=Asian American or African American? |
|
I am a white lady who was conflicted about the book. It was a fun for a rom-com, but I felt the stereotyping was way beyond what I felt comfortable with.
That said, I will see the move as I believe in voting for more diversity in the film industry via the box office. |
All white movie casts are OK, though, right? And black and Asian and Hispanic people should be able to relate to those movies and enjoy them, right? |
|
Me!! I'm not Asian, I'm Eastern European, but I loved the books and can't wait for the movie.
I didn't love how the last book ended though, meh! |
REALLY! LESS ETHNIC! We're also an AA (African American) family and my DH, 3 college kids and I can"t wait to see this movie. Just go, sit back and enjoy the movie. |
| Why would they make a movie about just one minority? I’m not going to go see it. |
Examples? |
| I can’t wait! I thought the books were a fun easy read. I’m psyched for the visuals (gorgeous houses and clothes). Plus Awkwafina and Constance Wu are hilarious. |
|
I love the book and I can’t wait to buy tickets to see the movie!

Really? Are you a troll? It is called Crazy Rich Asians. It is about an extremely wealthy Asian family set in Hong Kong. What minoritiescwould fit in? |
| I'm very excited! Rich transcends race. If you don't get a reference, it's more likely that you're poor not because your not Asian |
|
Cannot wait! About to finish the 3rd book right now.
I am most excited to see the houses and all the beautiful places they go. |
