h1n1 symptoms--how did they start?

How does the H1N1 first start? Do you have a fever or stuffy nose?

Pretty sure I have it now, but temperature is too low to be "fever" (just 100) but it keeps waffling all over the place! Yesterday, (about 4 days into the illness) I took Tylenol cold/flu meds and thought I was pretty well over it. This morning, I have a fever again and feel like crap. I am ambulatory, though - and obviously can play on the internet and cook and whatnot...I just have a horrific cough and periodic chills, runny nose. My child has it, too (he's four). Mild fever for two days and now just has the hacking cough and stuffed nose. I am treating him with lots (and lots) of cartoons.

Thanks, PP. My child is 4 and woke up with a fever, stuffy nose, so I was curious if I should take him in to the Dr?

Two children in his preschool class have been sick, one with the H1N1

I think we've had but we've been running high fevers for about 4-5 days. Ped said the flu test is inaccurate and he has no way of really knowing what type of virus anyone has, they just treat the symptoms.

I'm fairly certain we got it from preschool, too. I didn't take son to the doctor, because it just hasn't reached that level (for us). I keep watching for signs of difficulty breathing (through the coughing) and/or high fever, but so far, so good. (I think I feel significantly worse that he does...and DH has so far been immune)??

There seems to be a cold going around that comes with a stuffy/running nose, low fever (under 100), sore throat at first, and turning into a cough as it goes. My 6-month-old and I are both getting over it and I know several other adults and babies who've had the same thing over the last few weeks. It seems to be going around his daycare, too.

This sounds like a cold to me. I have one, too.

Yeah, I would think so, too..but we had the cold that's going around like, two weeks ago (also put us out of commission for a week+). These symptoms sound the same as the cold we had a couple weeks ago, but amplified significantly. I reckon it could be two separate colds, but I also understood that you should probably presume that its H1N1 if you get flu-like symptoms? the CDC website says you may not even get a fever with H1N1?

Please post on flu forum, or you're likely to receive an onslaught of attacks.

Your nose begins to resemble a pig's snout and then you become stuffy.

Yes, I'd like to know this too. I had strep a few months ago, but also had HORRIBLE body aches and fever for a few days and couldn't beleive it was due to strep entirely. It's possible I had both but I just felt it was more than strep at the time. BUT i had no cough so maybe not...

To answer the question: My child had 99 temperature and a very profuse sneeze/cough the first day and extreme fatigue. I assumed a cold. The second day, her fever shot up to 102.5 and she had a sore throat as well plus still extreme fatigue. She is 3. I took her to Nighttime Pediatrics and she was tested and diagnosed with H1N1. Today is day 3 and she actually seems better -- normal temp today so far and not profoundly ill. I'll see if her temp goes back up after her nap.

My husband and I have felt mildly headache-y and sneezy but have no fever; we are thinking we got the "silent" variety and may not actually get sick.
