| I keep frozen pizza, brownie mix and bottles of water. If I have notice, I pick up some doritos or cheetos. I usually have hot dogs and hamburgers too. And, then they raid whatever else is in the house. I keep the food that I don't want them to eat (ie, what I am going to put in the younger kids' lunches) in a plastic bin that is off limits. |
uh-huh... and in 10 or 15 years, these teenage boys will be fat. |
| Pizza - order in; uber eats etc. is what my son does. We have a 4 people only over rule. Otherwise, popcorn, chips, drinks (non alcoholic), brownies/cookies, frozen appetizer things. |
No they won't Teen boys do not eat like preschool girls. Active teen boys need around 3000 calories and athletes in training season around 4000 calories. Active teen boys can eat and eat and not put on a pound. This is a teen forum. Not a preschool forum. |

An inexpensive filler: Loaf of Italian or French bread . Slice in half lengthwise. Place on a foil lined cookie sheet for easy cleanup. Load on any kind of shredded cheese in your frig. Cook in oven for 20 minutes until cheese is melted.Cut into bite size pieces.
Wiener wraps made from hot dogs and crescent rolls. Make them bite size. |
Yes the majority of them (about 75%) will become fat. To deny that fact is foolish. Teen boys need to eat healthy foods, so that when their teenage metabolism slows down to normal levels, they will naturally start eating less. But most teenage boys become addicted to the pizzas, burgers, fries, sodas, frozen appetizers, chips, brownies, and all of the other things being given to them. Then 5 years pass and the time comes to slow down their food intake, but they don't stop eating all of the crap because it tastes awesome and their bodies crave it. (And I have 2 active teenage boys who eat a ton of calories -- good calories.) |

Frozen pasta and sauce
Sandwich stuff--rolls, turkey and ham, cheese Bananas Cupcake stuff, also good for last minute bake sales, etc. |
| Bread and peanut butter, apples and bananas, chips and salsa, ice cream, pasta shells and cheese. |
Ooh! Fresh apples! I guess better than old ones? |
HAHAHAHAHAHA! |
| it is entirely possible to eat healthy balanced meals 95% of the time but let loose at parties, get togethers etc. As is everything in life, it is all about balance. Too far to either side is unhealthy and creates food issues. My boys will eat huge salads, we replenish the fruit bowl daily, will eat almost all veggies, open to trying anything, so great eaters but if they have a few friends over and the doritos come out I am not going to sweat it. They are athletic, active, happy...a junk food binge here and there is normal and completely fine. |
| Some of you people are insane. Do you really expect OP to whip up a gourmet meal for her kids late night guests? When I was a teenager I snacked on "unhealthy foods" over at friend houses on occasion and I grew up to be a slender, healthy eating adult. Friends I knew who were never allowed any junk food grew into junk food fiends though. |
| One of DS’s friends’ mom always orders the crew massive amounts of Chinese food when they’re over there late-ish. I gotta up my game if I want my place to be the hangout! |
But don't your kids hang out with their friends many days a week? Especially during the summer? Junk food binge 5 or 6 times a week? |
