Hummus and pita chips

The person worried about healthy snacks is nuts.

Too far to either side is unhealthy and creates food issues. My boys will eat huge salads, we replenish the fruit bowl daily, will eat almost all veggies, open to trying anything, so great eaters but if they have a few friends over and the doritos come out I am not going to sweat it. They are athletic, active, happy...a junk food binge here and there is normal and completely fine.

But don't your kids hang out with their friends many days a week? Especially during the summer? Junk food binge 5 or 6 times a week?

Five or six times a week? No. My 15 year old is a Cit and works 5 days a week doesn't get home until 4. My 12 year old is in Camp from 8 to 3:30 as well as my ten-year-old. The boys play summer baseball and club soccer so most nights of the week they have practice or a game. My fifteen-year-old plays in a Woodwinds Band and performs with a children's theater during the summer. At most we have two nights a week free. So once again, if on those two nights the kids eat some frozen crap or a bag of Doritos I'm not sweating it.
