This pta meeting is hilarious

Given that none of these moves are going to happen for two or three years, I have a hard time believing that anyone is making staffing recommendations yet.

With kid evening commitments and one of us with a late work schedule, we can never make it to the meetings.

Sorry, can't do it, First Rule of Fight Club!

Perhaps the PTA could send a summary. Not everyone has means to attend the meetings.

ASF is a mix of Key zone kids, with some kids from Taylor (ASF neighborhood) and Jamestown districts. The unspoken and danced around issue at the meetings was the false belief that whomever is elected to the new PTA positions will be able to tell the School Board whether the teachers and staff at ASF will stay at the ASF building, or will teacher and staff and science-y things be transferred to the Key building, along with the Key zoned students. The community is still coming to terms with the recent staff guidance and trying to determine how to proceed.

What recent staff guidance?

Anyone who thinks the ASF PTA is going to be able to dictate anything to the staff about how this transition happens is delusional.

Say what you want about the pta, but do you anonymous internet person want to organize the art show? Do you want to organize field day or the kindergarten playdates or the ice cream social? How about the 5k?

Do fewer events. Do less. Do them well, but fewer events. PTA shouldn't keep adding and adding to what they do ....over time it's unstainable

Absent a response, I can only assume the staff guidance thing has nothing to do with the elementary planning initiative and is only people trying to stir up more drama and sympathy for themselves.

If I hear about any other PTA meetings collapsing into tears and infighting over this process, I'll judge them similarly.

Science-y things? In terms of proceeding, what is there to debate, actually? Enjoy the Key building and it’s superior playground and field.

OMG. Your precious snowflake will survive going to Key if it becomes a neighborhood school.

The crap that gets said here about people who claim to be parents from our school is hurtful and does not reflect our community values. You are not helping the situation by coming anonymously on the internet and spewing hatred to anyone from our community (transfers and key zone alike).
The last thing we need is for people to stop volunteering at the pta because they feel like it does not represent their best interests. How about the 5k? I've been a room mom for five years, and I can attest that if people like me get so turned off that I stop helping, you can bet your buttons that your kid won't have parties or halloween parades or anything that makes the school into a community.
So stop it. Act like an adult and voice your hatred in person, or if you aren't going to, then keep it to yourself.

Aren’t we lucky to have you.
Pretty sure the school had active parents the 15 years prior to your arrival.

So confused will the science go with the school or not? We are there for science.

Wrong. Never interested in asfs but if means you have to move back to your neighborhood at key, it seems really attractive now.

Seriously ASFS parents are the biggest tools. The only other obnoxious parents I have ever witnessed b4 this recent es boundary process are the Nottingham ones. I used to think it would be nicer to stay put where our kids currently attend but now I am glad they’ll have to move. Nottingham karma is a bitch.
