honestly ASFS parents (especially you guys who were there last night), we need to get off the internet and take this crap off of dcum. The crap that gets said here about people who claim to be parents from our school is hurtful and does not reflect our community values. The number of people who commit themselves tirelessly to the school who were in tears last night is heartbreaking. You are not helping the situation by coming anonymously on the internet and spewing hatred to anyone from our community (transfers and key zone alike).
The last thing we need is for people to stop volunteering at the pta because they feel like it does not represent their best interests. Say what you want about the pta, but do you anonymous internet person want to organize the art show? Do you want to organize field day or the kindergarten playdates or the ice cream social? How about the 5k? I've been a room mom for five years, and I can attest that if people like me get so turned off that I stop helping, you can bet your buttons that your kid won't have parties or halloween parades or anything that makes the school into a community.
So stop it. Act like an adult and voice your hatred in person, or if you aren't going to, then keep it to yourself.

never.again.

Good lord. Painful.

We continue to support teachers in every way possible. We are often their favorite parents and stand up for them against administration.

But--man---some of those people in those meetings...ridiculous.

Yes, we all sit around and talk about how great you are and how we like you better than all the other parents.

Yes, I would also like to know. What had people in tears? The switching campus issue?

Well, basically everyone at ASFS will be moving to Key except ANY of the teachers or principal. It is kind of tearing the community asunder.

I wouldn't assume that's how it will happen. Based on what the staff/SB have said so far, I would expect the Key staff would largely move with the immersion program, leaving lots of openings at Key for current ASFS staff to transfer. That's what happened when Discovery opened, a bunch of the Nottingham staff moved over there to help smooth the transition.

Staff recs?

School staff? Or broader APS recs?

My kids have great memories of that place.

Can somebody give a summary?

With kid evening commitments and one of us with a late work schedule, we can never make it to the meetings.

Sorry, can't do it, First Rule of Fight Club!

Perhaps the PTA could send a summary. Not everyone has means to attend the meetings.
