| 2 hours a day is pretty optimum to maintain a fit body. I'm 57 and I do 90 mins a day. Get off the couch, OP. Your wife sounds awesome. |

Guys, stop. Seriously. It is VERY unusual to exercise two classes a day or 2+ hours a day and not have an issue that affects your personal life. Whether it's stress, or body dysmorphia that kids could pick up on, or desire to escape the house - whatever it is, it's not all "she looks great, appreciate it!"
There's very often more to it than that. |
| If I was a SAHM I would need to work out for 2 hours a day to maintain my patience and to have some time to myself. Have you asked her the reason? |
There is a zero percent chance OP would have kept this information to himself if it was a problem in this instance -- he really wants people to agree with him that it's a problem but has not responded to anyone asking about disordered eating. Just "it's hot yoga" as though we'll all say, ohhh, in that case, she needs to be committed! The most relevant information here is that she's a SAHM and he makes sure she pays for this out of her own money. This guy sounds like a tool and she is probably thrilled to be out of the house. |
No, it’s not unusual. I am a SAHM and exercise at least 2 hrs a day. My kids are at school. I look great. No stress. I enjoy working out. |
Yes, perhaps she's fighting depression, or has a lot of anxiety or stress. Exercise is a healthy way to cope with all of these things. Much better than laying in bed chugging wine and stuffing my face with pizza like I do. |

Her exercise habits are completely normal and won't damage her joints, they will actually keep them healthy. Do you need to work out two hours a day to stay in shape and be healthy? No. But if you enjoy these activities then it's perfectly normal. We don't judge people who watch two hours of TV a day, or read for two hours a day, etc. Why is exercise as a hobby judged differently?
And yoga is definitely exercise. Some yoga is very gentle and some is very strenuous. |
| It sounds like OP feels neglected and is whinging here as a vent. Time to step up your game, OP. Why not work out with her? |
Of course it's healthier than many things. But done to this degree it's almost certainly paired with disordered eating / body image / anxiety / etc. OP could be reacting to that. |
ARE you worried about this? |
So then how did you find time to do it? A sitter for 3 hours per day? |
Not the PP, but gyms often have childcare, and kids can go on walks. |
|
Whose watching your kid between her free Lance job, 2 hrs of exercise, and the travel time getting to/for gym/streching/showered.
Is the yoga instructor/fellow yoga classmate good looking by chance? |
And she maintains that great body BECAUSE of her exercise routine. Why mess with a good thing? |
