While SSA and HHS may be similar to BVA in some aspects, such as decision writing, the work environment is generally much better and the workload is more manageable within 40 hour work week. Of course, experiences will vary based on your office location.

whats worse being a decision writer or in doc review ?

So what kind of job can an otherwise unemployable lawyer get? Say if I have no aspirations other than to be employed is this job at HHS or SSA really that bad?

Are you in your 20s or early 30s? If so, why not change professions? You don't need to be a lawyer. Find a job you like.

Doc review x1000. At least as fed you get benefits, paid leave, predictable work week, etc. And often there are opportunities for special workgroups and details to get experience outside your niche. Not everyone will rise to the top, but there is a career path there if you want it.

40s. I’ve tried with no success and have zero connections . However I can say every accomplishment I’ve made , which isn’t much, is solely due to my own efforts

what about doc review as a staff attorney or for a federal contractor where you have benefits vs decision writer? I wasn’t referring to temp doc review but that is the most common kind.
