I pick up the poop, I bag it, and then I leave it on the road (not the lawn...) for me to retrieve on my way back. I am not going to run back to my house to throw it out right away...sorry. It can wait.

I don't see the BFD here. So the poop bag sits along the side of the road for twenty minutes until I get back. It's not in your lawn or isn't contaminating the road, the air or anything else...

Save your pearl-clutching for the people who forget to pick it up at all....or in my neighborhood, for the people who slow down but never stop at the stop sign....right by the bus stop.

pp, if you don't want to carry your dog's poop, you should not have gotten a dog. Leaving it for any length of time is irresponsible.

What is with the eye rolls? I don't care if you plan to be back in 20 minutes or two hours, I don't want to deal with that poop bag being near my front yard until you decide to come and pick it up. Even if it is five minutes, that may be the five minutes that my young child is playing out there and may step on the bag. It is your job to carry or dispose of it right away, just like I do for my dog.

This perplexes me too. I have a dog and the one time I accidentally was out of the baggies I picked the poop up with tissues from my pocket-- gross yes but I would have felt too guilty to leave it.

People who don't bother to pick it up-- Aren't you worried about people seeing you leave your dogs poo behind? Don't you think its gross to have to dodge poo piles when getting out of your car, etc?

Are you insane? That would be dangerous, because the horse can rear and bolt.
A horse rider is not a dog-owner, PP. You're not going to get off your horse, hold the reins and try to scoop up their poo, which is HERBIVORE POO anyway and much less destructive to the environment.

On the contrary, horses are highly intelligent and trainable creatures, and their poo shouldn't bother you. It's 99% cellulose from hay/grass, instead of the concentrated broken-down protein and bacteria in dog poo.

Thanks for being a good dog owner. I do take note which of my dog walking neighbors is NEVER seen with a poop bag, and it makes me wonder about their habits.
